If you take it, tweak it, and put it in your own game it's essentially property theft.
If you take it, tweak it, and put it back in in place of the original, you've got a weapon model mod.
The very foundation of modding is built upon taking of the game, changing it, and putting it back.
I haven't looked inside because Asset Studio apparently can't open .resS files, but the weapon models aren't in the ressource.assets file. Unity Assets Bundle Extractor or a similar tool should do the trick.
