Isn't the currant StunBaton a tiny bit faster-swinging but weaker-hitting than the WoodenClub? I wonder if both batons are getting tweaked or if the pipe version will just play fairly different compared to its higher-tier version.
Whooo! I took a pipe and I started swinging it like a weapon!
I'm a freaking genius!
When i wrap my hands around my Flaming Chain wrapped steel club. All Int goes out the door. and... The Barbarian is here.
Civilize the mind.. Keep Savage the body.
Literally a club. pipe guns, sure. cool.
Pipe baton? The ♥♥♥♥. Tweak the god dang Primitive bow so it's actually somewhat useful.
Yeah, it was just a club or police-baton (the old-fasioned, non-telescoping versions...L-shaped).
But I use the primitive bow for sneak headshot kills for the first several weeks of the game and it works perfectly fine.
Also bows aren't an intellect weapon so why are you even mentioning them and pipe batons in the same post? They're totally unrelated.
If we're wondering off-topic to random things I want changed "fixed" I'll complain about the zombies still having that silly "I'M ALWAYS FACING YOU" thing that makes their heads turn 360degrees when their bodies rotate, and also makes their faces appear strangely 2D/sprite-like for some models. :P
...Also, another plug for "please don't make grass/plants in A20 require high-resolution to avoid looking really fat/thick like A17-19 (maybe A15-16 too, but can't remember at this point).
I do like the plain bow early-game for the sneak kills/damage, though I tend to leave difficulty (main affect of zombie HP) on easy or default most of the time....so I can see folks with bullet-sponge settings starting to hate bows.
Ok let me simplify the post. "Pipe batons? why ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bother"
The idea was that I think the addition of pipe batons was useless, and would rather have them spend the time working on a different mechanic I feel has fallen behind. On any setting above normal the bow is basically a waste of time compared to the other options.
You can get a stun baton withing the first 7 days with almost zero effort. By the time you make a pipe baton you won't need it anymore. It's a useless early game addition.
yeah, but stamina though. It's way easier to kill with a club than it is to kill/stun with stun batons.
Stun is useless when your enemies are dead.
AOE stun is fun, but they have to be close to each other for it to work, and then comes Mr. Sledgie which is just a club but does AOE, hence, no need for stun because it already has its own stun mechanic which is killing effectively.
Hopefully they tweak the stamina usage a bit for the stun baton, or change how the stun works. Maybe change the duration or lower the amount of hits needed to proc it. I dunno, it's a hard balance imo. Just a weird weapon in general..
Something made out of wood shouldn't compare to something that generates electricity I think. In terms of killing power, at least.
The skill books already do that, one of them makes it so that power attacks charge it with fewer hits and allow you to rapid fire electricity much easier than smashing with the sledge. With the books stunning is about as reliable as knock down with the club, without them is where its a bit underwhelming.
Some of those skills could probably be folded into the main skill tree as higher tier perks and would fix a lot of the grievances people have with it. One of INT's main drawbacks is the lack of skill trees like pummel Pete, making it more reliant on loot RNG.
The point of stun baton isn't the direct damage it does. It's their stun effect and crowd control ability. They have a reputation for being useless and the worst weapon in the game, yet the people who use them think they're OP.
I remember seeing videos by one of the forum regulars who demonstrated using it against swarms of zombies on insane difficulty, even against zombie bears.
I don't know what the new pipe version will be like, but am definitely interested in seeing it! (even though I still probably wouldn't use it. Just not my style.)
