I doubt there will be one till after gold. Who can say at that point. Honestly though, in the grand scheme of things very few games ever do that.

You need a decent PC to run this game. I can't imagine 20 quid (or cheaper if you wait for a sale) can be holding anyone back.

A free week-end would most likely boost sales in the long run. Once people get to try it first, most will like and be compelled to buy to keep playing.

There have been a few. It's always a surprise though.

Try before you buy sounds like a great promoting idea to me.

You can link your Steam account to select friends so it lets them play games from your Library when you aren't playing yourself....it's a built-in feature of Steam for sharing Libraries (the person borrowing needs to be online and the person lending needs to not be playing or have Steam offline...can't remember).

It's still less convenient than owning the game/s yourself, but a great way to see if you like/dislike something and also perfect for testing how well your computer handles them.

The game was also JUST onsale for $8.50 for the last week or two, and regularly sells for $9-$10 during the major Steam sales near holidays...so it can regularly be bought cheaply if the Steam Library Sharing feature or simply watching someone else play gets you (or a friend) excited about the game.

Would he (and you) be willing to let him temporarily test the game via the Library/Friend sharing feature on Steam?
This isn't a gift or a payback type of thing. More like a temporary free trial that he can only use while you allow it and only when you aren't on Steam yourself.
So you could set that up for him, then let him try the game for a weekend or two during the times you aren't on Steam.
