Pitch Black...
Is it normal for the nights to become, eventually, after a few in-game days, completely pitch black to the point where you cant see 5 blocks with night vision or a flash light?

Yeah, they are. Helmet light mod ftw.

It was one of the changes when they released a lighting update a few Alphas ago. Now, instead of every night phasing from lit-dark-lit, the illumination changes each night depending on the phase of the moon. In a few more in-game days the moonlight will make everything visible again.

NV goggles >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> headlight. only problem is that they replace nerdy glasses/lucky goggles so I tend to only use them during horde night or if I hear noises outside my base and need to snipe somebody

Also, depends on your vid settings. You might need to turn up brightness slightly. Personally, I love that we have the moon cycle now and yeah, without a moon overhead, it get's pitch black. But, I like to have brightness up...just enough...to still be able to see some outline of a creature at night. Ofc, this won't help with them wolves since they're black / gray anyhow but, it will keep it from being so intensely pitch black. Just don't turn it up too much or daytime will be awful bright.

Yeah I love how dark it can get.
It really makes me feel like I need to be ''home before dark''.

That piano you hear every night at 22:00 doesn't even sound like a piano to me anymore.
It sounds like GET THE F* HOME RIGHT NOW!!!! RUN!!!

LOL.... at least until you get yourself a helmet light mod. Even then I can't see that far so, I like to be working on my base at night.

weapon light, helmet light makes it all right. But OH yeah scooting around the base at 3am because you hear noise or worse digging is always fun.

I wish lights and night vision could be more effective though even if it is darker without any light sources. It seems broken to me.

I assume it's your monitor, gpu settings, game settings or something else. I see really well at night in this game as I do most other games Tarkov, Ark, Hunt: Showdown. You sound like one of my friends I play with.. they claim they can't see ♥♥♥♥ and I'm like what? I can see everything just fine.

You sure it isn’t you that has your settings or something changed? Even on 200% gamma, Ark at night is still brighter than 7d2d at night.

To OP, I’d recommend turning the gamma up. The night in 7d2d is substantially darker than night in real life. Being unable to see more than a block or two away is just… not fun, IMO.
IDK whats with the lighting in my game, but its dark from like 8 until mid night, where it becomes plenty bright enough, its like, idk, dusk lvls of light, nothing at all inhibiting. Seems like it should still be dark as hell until like 6am....
