Death penalty?
Is there one? Haven't noticed if so.

Yes, and a HUGE one at that... you get a 24HRS debuff as a "Near Death" penalty.

But what is the debuff?

its 1 hour and some of your perks are deranked during the duration

You lose points of your stats which can disable perks you had until you recover stat points.

It lasts an hour? A real hour or a game hour? Either way, LOL. Hardly a penalty. Losing 10 wellness in A16 was a much harsher penalty as it took so long to regain, especially early game.

it needs consecutive deaths to trigger. (2 - 4) deaths or so

If you say that then you probably don't understand how it works or you're just bragging for some dumb reason. :steamfacepalm:

How bragging? I still died. I'm saying I'd rather have a 1 hour debuff than a Wellness loss that takes days to recover from.

It is easy to recover wellness in A16 - Meat soup and Survivor perk usually helps get 10 wellness back pretty fast.

i think at low levels your chances of noticing that penalty are minimal. i find having to wrap myself in 8 bandages to get my health max back to 100 the biggest concern so far. i blame vultures and vending machine collateral damage

In the first few days....i.e. the time when you will die most. 10 Wellness is lot and you are a loooong way from Meat Stew. In A16, die 3 times on day 1 and you are max 70 Health and Stamina. How long till you are back at 100? Day 5? Compared to 1 hour debuf (which only occurs if you die twice in quick(ish) succession).

It gets worse at higher levels since you've invested A LOT on perks, so temporarily losing lots of perk bonuses is still a big bummer. You're basically going back to noob status until you "heal".

Yeah it's far worse and the debuff gets more extreme as your gamestage increases from what I understand. So early game it's not as severe.

So at higher levels your fighting stronger zombies but your fighting at lower levels because your perks are all disabled now, and every death refreshes the debuff
