Best performance?
I see this game still has performance issues even on great PCs. What are the best options I should change? And in the launcher should I use DirectX 11, GLCore, or Vulkan?

Go at 1080p, works like a charm on max.

1. Disable every option with the word "Reflection" in it.
2. Don't play at a resolution higher than 1080p. This is a Voxel game, not CSGO.
3. Ensure that your client is fully excluded from antivirus software.
4. Use DirectX. GLCore is for systems with non-supported drivers, and Vulkan is still a work in progress.
5. Double-check that your system RAM is clocked properly. Many systems over the past two years have been shipped/built with the RAM set on the lowest default for the sticks. Ensure that it is configured to use the XMP(Intel)/DOCP(AMD) profile.
6. Post exact full hardware specs so we can more specifically assist you.
Here is an example.
CPU i7-3930k overclocked at 4.6GHz
Memory 32B DDR3 RAM at 1866Mhz
GPU GTX1060 6GB SSC OC'ed a pinch over the factory OC.
DrivesOS and game saves on separate SSD's. Game client is on NVMe

I will 2nd this check list.

I did 2 things recently and it improved my FPS tremendously.

First thing was to ensure my BIOS and all Drivers were up to date, next was to ensure the RAM was clocked at the highest speed, as Sylen said my PC when I had it built by a Company was shipped with the RAM at lowest possible.

I now get 55-60 FPS with almost all settings but shadows on ultra with a 1050ti and 16GB RAM

Guess my 30 FPS sucks. Hasn't stopped me from enjoying the game for over 3000 hours though.

Play not higher as 1080p? Lol? Then I can play Tetris. I play @ 3440x1440 with any problems with a RTX 3080. Even my old gtx 1080ti hasn't problems with that resolution on high details..

@vgifford 30 fps? Man, I really respect that, because I can't play games anymore with 30 fps. It is not possible got me, stuttering like hell :)

I get 60FPS without an issue on 1080p.

Tried same graphics options at 4k resolution. FPS dropped to 22 almost instantly.
I struggle to maintain 20 fps on the lowest settings with...
CPU: Ryzen 7 2700
Ram: 16 GB DDR4 at 2400MHz
GPU: RTX 2060 6GB
OS: Win 10

Second Gen AMD CPU. Known to have poor muti-core performance. Set affinity so the client only has access to four physical cores and you should see a huge improvement.

Is your RAM speed set correctly? Ryzen 1xxx and 2xxx rely heavily on RAM speed, even 3xxx scales higher than normal with RAM speed. Your GPU is more than enough since my RX480 has no issues on near max settings @1080p, as this game is mostly CPU bound, not GPU.

I would make sure you have XMP profile set, and personally, if you are able, I would suggest disabling turbo boost on your CPU and just do a set overclock to near or at the default turbo speed. I have a Ryzen 5 3600 OC'd to 4.4GHz with 3200MHz RAM and runs at a set 75FPS even during horde night. Your R7 shouldn't be struggling like it seems to be.

2400MHz is the advertised speed for my kit of ram. And according to task manager my cpu utilization barely passes 15% when playing this game

does not seem to make any significant difference.

I see. Sounds like something else might be happening then, maybe BIOS related or driver related.
First though I would check your power plan. Your series requires a special "Power Plan" that you should definitely make sure is enabled. It will say AMD Ryzen High Performance instead of the default windows High Performance mode which is known to cripple Ryzen CPUs. This issue with Windows 10 still leads some people to believe early Ryzen CPUs are weak.
I also recommend downloading Ryzen Master if you don't already have it. It shows a more accurate description of what is going on with your CPU, as well as gives you access to a lot of options to improve performance with a click of a button.

If you have already done all of this/know about it, I would definitely check for BIOS updates and driver updates, but i'm guessing you already know that/did that.

Ryzen master is certainly an interesting program i wasn't aware of so thank you for that. And also i've noticed a strange quirk when I tabbed out to pull up steam again. If i cover up the game window with another window be it steam or a web browser and leave the steam fps counter visible. So basically 90% of the game is behind another window, cpu utilization spikes up to about 30% and the game runs at 125 fps. But the moment i click back to the game it drops back down and cpu utilization plumits back to 15%
Edit: Same thing happens with GPU. while the game is ontop its about 30-40% and while its behind steam it spikes to 80%

EditEdit: Disabled fullscreen and am just running the game in a window. Went from struggling to run the game at 20fps lowest settings 720p. To max settings 1080p at around 50-60 fps

Glad to hear things are working better now. I didn't think to mention windowed mode. I have many games that don't like fullscreen mode but works great in borderless/windowed. Personally I always run the game in windowed. Seems that might be the trick with some systems.
