Is lucky looter still worth it?
As someone who just got into playing A19, it doesn't feel at all worth it to use anymore. I've found quality 6 of tools... we don't use anymore, most of the time. Every safe I open with lockpicking, nothing of value in there. I get more useful things from crates and open chests. There has never been a time where I have found something my party doesn't have yet. I keep looking at trader inventories, and something that I haven't found for 14+ days (crucible schematic/item) I have found at a trader just by going between 3 of them.

Is there a gamestage that lucky looter becomes useful at? Because early lucky looter didn't seem to be good right out of the gate. If anything, I regret not going down the fortitude tree given how many status ailments there are now. Does anyone else have better luck with this?

I would say that it is no longer worth rushing to 5/5 lucky looter like a maniac; But that Lucky Looter is in fact still beneficial in the long run. In the short run, not so much, which is why it's not worth rushing 5/5.

It's no longer the overpowered loot rain it once was.

Suppose that makes sense. I figured it was still similar, or I'd get things from other stages of progression sooner by rushing it. Think it might be better to go into that tree later now.

What surenai said. Though the flip side of course being if you are putting points in perception its still worth 3 pts in Lucky looter for the looting speedup imo. Over the course of a game that could add up to alot of time. So it does have a debatable benefit on the time management side even then. Not really worth going out of your way for probably. But the secondary benefit is nice.

Lucky Looter should be valued for the looting speed, the bonus loot is not as important in A19.

It was overnerfed and needs a buff, so do safes.

As was mentionned a billion times already, the current loot progression is a work in progress. It will be greatly improved upon in a20.

if im playing solo now i put loot at max in settings. honestly just makes most lower tier POIs worth going into but like you said most of the stuff I actually really care about still is coming from trader. multiplayer would benefit more from loot items and skills for sure, but still not nearly as necessary as previous updates.

I mean loot at max settings is nice. But that only changes the quantity of items found. So the game will roll for loot. And instead of 12 bullets you will fine 54, etc. It will not increase the amount of loot rolls per container.

still also gives multiple of the same schematics when you find them, more food and medicine etc. i needed at least 3 herbal antibiotics to get rid of my infection earlier and I found 4 in one container so it saved my life. so tbh i prefer more loot in solo, and less loot in multiplayer since people can specialize their perks and help eachother more that way.

Loot is way too easy to get now anyway. Don't need it.

Just do a few days of questing and you will completely dwarf everything else in the game just with the rewards. Then spend the money you get on anything else from the trader.

Progression is broken.

Well in all fairness progression isn't even halfway done yet. They still have to implement it for traders, quests, and scaling loot based off of poi and biome difficulty. Plus the new weapons aren't in yet either.

It seems that the higher your level, the better the loot is, and the Lucky Looter perk boosts the level on top of that. However, the best loot is in the loot sections of specific buildings, like the loot pile at the top of the Shotgun Messiah Factory building. If you're low-level, it's not good loot at all, but come back in 10 levels, and it's great loot. It's much tougher to get guns at first, but then the game is much more heavily geared toward hand-to-hand combat, at least in the beginning. Get yourself an iron axe and some repair kits, and you'll be able to manage until you get guns and sufficient ammo. Also, if you feel like you're grinding, bump up the XP gain to max, and you'll level fast (and so will the loot). Just understand that the horde zombies will also upgrade faster (glowing, ferals, etc), too.

I mean, they had it 'ok' before. Quests weren't nearly as broken in previous alphas and looting was either slightly too good or just kind of neutral.

Now they limited what loot you can possibly find based on gamestage instead of having a flat % from day 1. So you can clear a factory on day 3 or 4 and find stone shovels in that hardened chest instead of a lvl 1 pistol no matter how many times you open a new one.

Yet quests can now consistently get you 1 or 2 steel tools before day 7 through rewards alone. You will easily have at least one tier 2 weapon and multiple tier 1's thanks to how cheap they are and how much money you earn through questing. Odds are you will be able to buy a bicycle or minibike before the first horde as well.

So basically, good players are no longer rewarded for being able to handle all POI's early.. you are rewarded for being able to maintain long questing sprees. They have been reinforcing this idea for over a year now in a lot of the dev blog videos, and it seems they are dead set on making the game linear rather than an open sandbox in the end.
