They do have the advantage of almost no bolt drop. Where as with bows you have to calculate the drop distance.
Mainly happens when trying to line up zoomed shots, I zoom in and when I try to shoot it reloads instead, very awkward when trying to line up headshots on approaching zombies. I think it may be because I try to zoom before the reload animation completes all the way, so even though it shows an arrow knocked it still reloads again.
You are not alone; we all suffer through this together.
As for clicking R, I am aware of left clicking., I just said 'hit R' because it was easier to type than 'manually reloading'.
