But since you need 3 to craft a chem station, you can use it on the campfire for a few things too.
Using Beakers on campfires is a waste of resources, don't do it. That's why I mentioned the Traders. In my current RWG map, every single one of the 5 traders I have found so far (it's only day 12) has a working Chem Station. Two have working Workbenches as well. So obviously that's where my first base was built.
Thanks,
I was thinking of the 3 cooking pots.
You can always pull it off the campfire once you have two, and for RWG, traders may be few and far between when you need some crafting done early game.
Once established, sure its a waste to use it on a campfire, but game-play varies for everyone when its random chance to find what you need to craft higher level items.
Sorry. I confused myself. What I meant was that the player should in general avoid making items manually that can be more efficiently produced at a Chem Station. The main example is Gun Powder of course. It doesn't actually take a Beaker or Campfire to make it. However you get double the amountif you produce it using a Chem Station versus making by hand.
In my experience, it is better to spend the time looking for a Trader with a Chem Station. The amount of time you'd spend collecting the resources you wasted crafting manually is much more than the amount of time you'd spend searching for a trader and using his Chem Station istead. Just a personal opinion.
You can't build a Chem Station till level 60, but you will surely need Gun Powder in large quantities well before level 60, meaning it is actually extremely cost effective to spend whatever time it takes to locate a trader with a Chem Station.
