Help :/ Iron Bars Alternative?

Guys, noob question: Any good low tier alternative blocks for Iron Bars?

I love iron bars for the fact that you can freely shoot through them and they also make good see through platform, and unlike arrow slits you can see through them more clearly.

But my issue is that I don't want to have to waste iron on them just to use them as a shoot through platform because obviously they use up a tons of iron and I won't even be using them for tanking..

I tried wooden poles by the way, but my character tends to fall through the gap :/ any suggestions? Thanks!

Half blocks vertically or 1/8 blocks or 50 pillars horizontally. Or use wood railings. They take 1 forged iron to upgrade. Not sure if you can shoot through though. Frames work as well. Just make sure you don't accidently pick them up! 😂

Hmm, frames.. I will consider testing them out. I've heard of 50 pillars though, like you can even hit zombies via melee with them, sadly no wood version. As for wood railings I will also test them out some time once I learn basic console spawn commands. Anyway thanks mate! :D

Yw! For testing purposes you can hit F1 (opens console) type cm (creative mode) and by hitting the u key you'll get into the creative menu.

Yeah I considered arrow slits, but I prefer easier to see and shoot through blocks.

you could use the pole blocks (not centered) they can be set up like this and the zombies cant get through but you can crouch walk through. also cop zombies cant shoot through. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1304496793
also they can be upgraded and are stronger than iron bars. not recomended when shooting downward as you cant stand on them

Oh wow, that is more insane than the 50 pillar placed vertically side by side technique! Good to know. Well, you can stand on the poles and shoot downwards (I tried) but I don't like it though since you can still fall through the gaps.
