Draw Bridge
I twice tried to place a bridge and first time, my house collapsed, so thought okay, it's too heavy, I build a new concrete foundation and the second time I placed it fell just in the water -.-. How to place a bridge properrly because they hellish expensive.

Hmm, just build bridge out of hay :D That should have little mass :D

I think he's talking about the drawbridge. :-]

You are going to have to experiment with the type of block you are using. Different blocks have different strength - Reinforced concrete has a different strength from earth..... makes sense.

I mostly deal with concrete blocks inside my bunkers. For those, you can go 4 blocks before it collapses (meaning on the 5th block it collapses. For this reason i make most of my rooms 9 x 9. build 4 on one side, 4 on the other, and then place the 5th block.

I recommend you get some blocks, go to a different area, and just experiment.

Also, remember that braces and columns are very useful.

(my current pit is 12 blocks deep and is 17 X 17. On top i have 4 reinfoced concrete blocks (meaning the actual pit is 9X9. In order to support the reinfoced concrete i have Steel 50% pillars all the way around (this is also nice because you can shoot through them.)

Also, when digging underground, go deep. A huge amount of stone above you makes the entire bunker far more stable.

Placing a drawbridge is a pain in the butt, I lost one after a few days collecting the mats for it, so for the second time since I started playing I used the creative funtion to get the hang of it (first time was when bikes appeared and they'd start smoking then catch fire, lol) so I'd suggest using that first. Hermit out. :rf:

how do you activate the creative function ? And thanks for screenshot

Do what I do, practice placing things in Creative mode in a seperate single player game. I alway have a workshop single player game to try different things out when a patch hits to see how they work.

I had a drawbridge placed on scrap metal reinforced wood in a previous server and there was a reinforced wood access ramp on the opposing end and it worked fine.

Remember that the drawbridge is 4 blocks large and 6 blocks long (4x6) and must be attached to a structure that can withstand its mass to begin with.

So mine was attached to a prefab cabin with forge, where the extended platform I made looked like this

x = scrap metal reinforced wooden blocks
- = space

xxxx
x---x
x---x
x---x
x---x

So basically, my pillars were as wide as my bridge and all held just fine, even if it was wood. Now my new base is made of reinforced concrete and is like this

o = R. Concrete

oooooo
o-------o
o-------o
o-------o
o-------o
o-------o

And it is attached to the middle 4 blocks, leaving the two pillars outside the width of the bridge and it holds fine with a R. Concrete ramp on the opposite end.

I'll add a screenshot of my last design for reference purposes.
