Besides resetting in game settings you'll also want to go into your driver application profiles and remove whatever crud it decided to create there as a custom driver profile for the game. Just a guess as I refuse to use such applications. Someone more knowledgeable about the optimizations that software does could probably answer better.
- Reinstalling the game
- Trying all possible combinations in the Video options
- Reinstalling the game again after deleting everything in the Steam Folder
- setting the global applications profile in nVidia to default
Will now uninstall the nVidia software and driver and reinstalling it. Last time I tried the game some walls of my house didn't even show up, walked right through them and fell through the map. I don't know whats up. Looks like the game is the problem but there has been no updates lately and I run the stable V16.4.
Some of the problems described in your most recent reply don't sound like video issues but rather issues with the save file itself (example walking through walls).
What version was the save file created on?
Was there ever a bad shutdown/crash with that save?
Do the issues occur on a new save?
But after I did a clean reinstall of my driver and of the game I also deleted the save file and will try a new game now. Sucks to kill my progress.
Had similar issue in Warframe & star conflict where the game suddently drop to 15 fps & stutter like hell regardless of graphic settings
Total uninstal of Nvidia then redownloading it entirely so far worked for me
It only screws things up.
Thanks for the tips guys.
Best bet is do what Ch53dVet said above after you uninstall 7dtd and it's folders, and re-install.
Geforce Experience imo is very bad, and maybe learn about about graphic card settings and features and create your own game profiles in Gforce control panel ?
Also I tried nVidia Experience again. Yes I was that brave/dumb. Also all good. Graphics look fine to me and I can even go higher (LOD, texture quality) without FPS drop.
Why my save file got ♥♥♥♥♥♥ when I optimized my game is beyond me but at this point I dont care. Just glad I can play again. Now give me Alpha 17 xD
