Like.... scrapping lower tier garbage weapons that are looted or quest rewards? Think weapons and more advanced armor and tools give 3 "parts" each, or something to that effect.
No i mean specifically dismantling stuff in world with wrenches to that effect. if parts are literally just pipes, nuts, and bolts then we should have SOME extent of crafting them or dismantling them through some form of machinery. Much like you scrap a car, cart, and air conditioner for stuff.
My above logic still stands, if you can't craft parts then how are you able to find shotguns? Its IMPOSSIBLE to craft shotgun parts therefore it should be entirely impossible to even find a shotgun as logic would dictate its 100% impossible to even find one in the first place.
Also we don't know what the upcoming pipe weapons will scrap into. A pipe gun, pipe rifle, and pipe shotgun (replaces blundy) are coming. Will these new low tech weapons scrap into gun parts as well, or just iron? Its unknown as of now.
At the moment, 'parts' as they are now just feel like a quick bandaid solution to gate players being able to build weapons too early (and in the case of the "wooden" cross/bow and stun baton, severely limits players to craft their early game class weapons. Imagine if baseball bats still needed parts. Ugh). There are much better ways to manage players becoming too powerful too early when it comes to certain craftables.
I'm playing with a group and our "scavenger" raided 2 working stiff tools and 1 shotgun messiah. Not a single shotgun on 200% loot abundance. (Working stiff by Diersville and the one in the snow north west. Plus the working stiff tools with the new shooting range. 2 ak47 and some knives but thats it.) we are swimming in every single part except the ones that we are wanting. Hell not even the traders are selling them.
Yet again, they should be 100% craftable. The picture dictates pipes, nuts and bolts, logic would dictate an anvil would easily take care of that since an anvil allows you to craft short iron pipes.
I do agree with parts being a middleman and it would make you powerful early game, but at the same time we are on day 9, 12:22 as i'm writing in the forum mining iron at the same time. SO far i have a level 1 pistol, and level 4 blunderbuss. We're already past the 7 days so i personally dont see the point.
I'd even accept parts being made with forged steel, we dont even have a crucible yet (can't find one either). Relying ENTIRELY on RNG is not a good solution to this issue, its a good concept but its badly implemented in my opinion and definitely needs a change.
I also do this, and I keep an eye on the traders. If I see a weapon type I use QL1 up on the vendor I buy it. The game doesn't care what QL the item is, you still get the same amount of parts when scapping.
It also has pipe pistol and pipe rifle, which is interesting. I didn't know the pipe weapons were coming to vanilla, must have missed that news. If they are like the Darkness Falls version, they are simple to make (very similar to blunderbuss recipe) and I believe they just broke down to iron. Repair was with iron pipe, not repair kits like everything else. They are the low tier scrape by option, essentially the firearm equivalent of the stone weaponry & tools.
