Questions about underground bases
I'm building my first underground base. Meaning I've gone down to -57 and dug out a room. I put up walls, flooring and a ceiling.

Do I have to worry about structural integrity? Should I put up pillars or run support beams across the ceitling?

Next, I was looking at the down part I dug. I want to build walls around it so it's more uniform. I've been thinkin about building another level. Can I build right on top of my current ceiling or should I leave a level of rock from the original layer?

I've been considering lighting w/ the new technology of generators and lights. Is there a video showing how to run lines? Or can someone tell me how to do it?

Yep you have to worry about SI when zombies are walking ontop of your base, pillars should suffice.

Sure you can build right ontop of your current building, SI applies. Leaving a layer of natural materials will add to SI stability but isn't necessary.

There's probably a video somewhere, but in essence it's wielding a wire tool then click stuff in the order:
From (click) To (click)
Then repeat until you are done or redo from the beginning if you screwed up because the game sometimes deletes wires if you are doing some re-wiring.

When you hollow out the 2'nd floor, be precise about the location of support pillars - make sure to stack them top to bottom. Just think of the dirt as a giant filled building. Too much strain hanging off a wall and it will come down just fine, especially if you hollow out the space above it to create multi floors.

U dont need to worry much, but if you build at the surface then it wont hold much even for just 1 block after the pillar, just like below X mark, it wont hold because the game count as there were no structure at all

I was once done this, at alpha 15.3, but dont know now

If you check the 7DTD wiki, individual block types are generally listed with their SI values, e.g. Reinforced Concrete Blocks have an SI of 5. Therefore, if you place support columns no further than 10 block apart you should be ok (5 blocks away from ant support, pillars or walls, should be fine). However, with corners to account for, I personally try to space my pillars no further than 7 blocks apart.

Note that structural integrity functions a bit oddly...

If you have a pillar with blocks coming off the side, like so:

XOOO
O
O
O

The only block in that structure that matters for the calculations is the X. Basically the block that's on top of the support pillar determines how long of an unsupported span can be attached there, doesn't really matter what type the other blocks are, from what I understand.

So basically even if all the rest of the blocks are something weak like wood, if the X is a metal block (Which have the highest structural glue value) then the unsupported span can be about 16 blocks. Whereas if the X block were wood, you'd only be able to attach 5 blocks on the side, no matter what type they are.

Good video here that's still relevant.
