How the hell do you get a hamachi server to run?!

I have been trying for the past hour and a half trying to get a VPN server for me and my friend. I'm using Hamachi because port-forwarding is a pain in the ass. I've tried launching with and without the serverdedicated.bat using my IPV4 and the 25000 default port. It worked fine for me, but my friend couldn't connect, saying "can't connect to server" or "server won't respond". Eventually I couldn't connect to it either through the server menu! I tried launching via "continue game" instead (It's Survival MP), still nothing! I have no idea what to do now. This is honestly way more complicated than it should be, why can't it be like Terraria or the such? Please help!

had such a problem also once.
it was the firewall.. it didnt blocked hamachi itsellf but the connections going true it.
can ur friend ping the hamachi ip of the game host?

I think I pinged him (or attempted to), but I haven't thought of the firewall problem. I might try it next time.

why should someone use a cracked version of the game
its cost less than a big sandwich right now

The cost of a big sandwich in china is really expensive. Also Kids usually don't get enough pocket money or have access to paypal or a credit card to buy games.

Also. Get yourself a router that has UPNP and then you don't have to worry about port forwarding.
