is infinite water still a thing?
i live about 20 minutes (round trip) RL time away from the nearest water source (since the water tower in my town is now depleted).

is there a way to make a water source closer? like 3 deep 5x5 filled hole or whatever?

Ever since I moved real far away from water I would just dig up a couple hundred Snow Blocks and melt them at my campfire into clean water. You just need a cooking pot, one Snow and an empty bottle

Yes it's still a thing. Make a bucket, fill it, right click 1 or 2 blocks above the ground on a wall... and it will flow down and fill an area. Then just scoop a bit of it and rinse repeat until you have an ocean ;)

Check all the basements in town. From the outside just look for windows along the base of the foundation. Alot of times 1 or more of those basements are flooded and should supply you water for alongggg time.

1. Put sand in a forge and make stupid piles of jars for near free.

2. Go fill with water.

3. Go home and boil it

Murkey water stacks, boiled water only stacks to 15.

or...

Swimming pools and basements as well as a few buckets can do the trick. Also craft a few hundred jars with sand and clay in the forge. The stack is more than 15. Then fill them in your water pit but it won;t deplete the water. Try re-filling your bucket in the water pit to make the pit fuller also works sometimes.

A couple hundred lol did that recently went to go look at how much i had, had about 8k. As far as infinite water with a bucket flowing down the wall in my experience it doesnt flow besides maybe 2 blocks down and stops it also leaks through any not full block it acts odly in Alpha 16 not to say that it didnt act weird before but it has some real problems now.

Yeh water physics is pretty broken. I tried experimentally to get a lake to expand into a crater I'd dug looking for treasure by placing a few TNT charges to blow the remaining bank out. I now have a veritable red sea style wall of water at the edge of hte lake....Messed up physics. Was wondring if I could create something that looked a bit like a well with the bucket trick, that said I too am using snowballs for most of my water needs. They never *ever* melt (feels somewhat cheaty)...in my outpost in the dessert I've got a chest full of snowballs I just crack over whenever I have to night there when passing through......By rights they should have evaporated over the in game month and a bit since I placed them there! My main base is relatively near the snow anyway and I dug a mine tunnel into the snow biome so I can surface, shovel snow, and dissappear back underground with refills for all my snowball caches.

The idea was that I wanted a nearby water source, I get a lot of rain in my area and think that if I had a watering hole that it would easily refill during rain. So I wanted to know if there was a way to create an infinite water source, not tips on how to gather water.

I'll just edit the xml so that glass jars and can don't deplete water blocks. Seems pretty broken that I can drain a lake with jars when it rains enough to drown Noah

I know long ago there was concept art of a rain water collector but havent seen anything about it in awhile. but to anwser your question the rain wont refill the water back up though if you take a bucket with some water an place it down and just scoop up a par that speads you can tecnically have infinite water as long as you keep the bucket filled.

you can only fill to 1 block deep, and as large an area as you want. I think the only way to get depth is to place water blocks from creative menu.

I don't get their desire for water depletion. It would be one thing, if we had a source. Starvation mod Rain Collector for instance. But since nothing refills the water... I get they don't want you to use a bucket and make your own well, but Starvation mod has proven a rain collector is possible. Add it in to base game.

FYI, I go into the item file and find the bottles, and removed the deplete line.

Don't forget snowballs, go dig in the snow and have a supply of snowballs for water, just process at campfire
TheEpicSpire Aug 31, 2017 @ 5:47pm
yeah, i ended up doing that. i forgot that was a thing. this is the first seed i'veplayed that has been near a snow biome, so completely forgot about that. i went way over board and have 10 stacks of snowballs lol.
