A19 Are Iron/Steel tools even worth bothering?

At the moment i realy have to ask myself if iron/stell tools are even worth it in A19. The Stamina drain is so heavy, because of it you are faster with a stoneaxe and not stoping every swing for regen. And you only have to carry a stoneaxe not a pickaxe, a fire axe and a hammer. I know i had the same thought at the start of alpha 17 ... but you could worke around it with perks, grain alchohol and coffee. Now perks are nerfed and take longer to get, is know the starting feeling of alpha 17 the truths?

Take a stack of cornmeal to keep the hot food buff going, and blackstrap coffee rules, IMHO. I use iron if that's all I've got , and steel ASAP. Never cared for the Auger, IRL it would be useless vs anything but soil/sand. A rock hammer though......

if you've got the stamina cost reduction perks, steel tools are king, moded heavily they can rip plenty out of the ground and only need ductape and forged iron to fix.

but if your not specced for stamina efficiency in resource harvesting, anything works till you acquire an Auger. then you can use that to really rip into the earth and not worry about your stamina, just the Screamers you'll attract above ground. or you know, get carried away and cause a cave in xD.

Is A19 not 18 perks are changed and i did not saw an screamer in 19 ... but i am early stage.

it all depends on the tool and how fast your mining. an Auger will pretty much call a screamer. but a steel tool, maybe if there are two or more people mining in the same area. i know when im with my friends they toil in the mine on our server and i provide overwatch above ground.

It's really great when a screamer calls in a small horde while you're mining. They stumble into the hole at the top layer, wile e. coyote themselves into the rock layer 20 blocks deep, then get facebashed. It's like a zombie waterfall.

But yah, the stamina increase on iron/steel tools necessitates putting points into sexrex. You can respec once you get motor tools, because by then you won't really be using melee a lot either.
