I like most of the ambient noises...crickets, rabbits?, wood creaking...those are great. It's just the overblown pieces like the haunted chorus, stringed instruments and such....they're not there during the day with music off, shouldn't be there at night. Kind of crappy that they're tied to the ambient volume.
Also the huge difference between some actions like opening a campfire or chopping a block of wood, I have to keep all audio down. Independent controls would be better.
It irritated me so much that earlier today I decided to do some time digging around and found a way to remove the sounds. Check out this post:
https://community.7daystodie.com/topic/4388-how-to-remove-bg-spooky-music-at-night/
Also, If you go the manual route, there's another sound I like to remove "a_racoon_oneshot" (stupid raccoon/chirping noise at night) which is not disabled in the post I linked.
Another note is that the search does not work (at least for me) on the unity extractor. Sort the files by name in ascending(ish) order and you can find the files by scrolling to the bottom 8th of the list. They are listed below the "GameObject" files.
I really hope they give the option to just disable it through the settings in the future
