hunting knife vs fire axe for harvesting
so im trying (like everyone) to save as many slot spots as possible and only have the essentials.
I did a bit of testing and am hoping for confirmation.

It seems i can just use a fire axe and get almost as much out of it when it comes to harvesting as a hunting knife. Since i usually have enough meat etc, im thinking of just forgoing the hunting knife completely since i also use the axe for melee, saving me another spot instead of the club.

The Hunting Knife is a bit more effective at butchering creatures:

Hunting Knife
<passive_effect name="HarvestCount" operation="base_set" value="1" tags="butcherHarvest"/>
Iron FireAxe
<passive_effect name="HarvestCount" operation="base_set" value=".7" tags="butcherHarvest"/>

But I guess you can invest some points in the hunter's perk and you'll still get tons of food...

Hunting knife is something I tend to remove from my inventory later in the game. When food is no longer an issue I'm more than happy with how much food an axe gives so I get back that extra slot the knife took up.

i find i dont have trouble with food at all (admittedly playing on moderate, permadeath so only made it to week 2 so far). I invest 1 point into intrinsic immunity and i hardly ever,close to never get sick and find enough to eat while looting then scrap the cans. also 1 point into chef and with the eggs n bacon it gives a decent amount
