my server is a uk pve server with 4 places left so will be asking for new player for start of a stable a16.4 stable
Renting one is a good idea, I rent from bluefang usa company but server in london which has recently been upgraded and their help is excellent, not had any major problems been with them for over 18 months.. Geld says you can just click on any server, tthis is not true public ones yes but a lot are private and password protected . So unless you get invited you wont get on them, you say you dont go on that much then i suggest 1 of you becomes the host and only play together,on the free one. All seervers will have a few players on them so in your case the days will go up 2 weeks out of the game could be 20+ game days your game wont change so if you loggeed off with 100% food and water when you come back say 3 weeks later you still will be the same. If your not in game no changes to you lol small world im in Essex to :)
eg st0 sets the day back to day 1 and you can do it for any day you want, Good luck with your renting
Yes, Peer-2-Peer Multiplayer as launched from the client shuts down when the host player shuts down.
Time does not pass on a server unless there is 1 or more players connected.
Setting the days back with the console might be a great idea if things don’t work out 😂😂
So far they are the best host service I've found. Only 0.25€ /day or about $0.28 /day.
You also get your first three days free if you just want to try them out!
That's how we did it back when minecraft blew up in my friends circle. Instead of hosting we all pitched in a bought a decent dedi server that my buddy left on 24/7.
Setting the days back causes nothing but problems and you gain nothing by doing it
A few things to realize:
1. Game stage is based on your levels (all players in the region at the time) plus your total time alive plus the difficulty setting. The "day" of the server means absolutely nothing towards game stage or difficulty. So if you got to day 100 and set it back to day 1, the game stage and overall difficulty will be identical because it is not a factor. You would still be the same level and total time alive no matter what you changed the day to
2. Timers in the game lock in by day and sit waiting for that day to happen. What does that mean?
Well if a trader has a 7 day loot reset timer, it won't just "happen every 7 days", it locks in on the next 7th day. Let's say you were on day 42 and the next planned loot reset is going to be day 49. If you change the servers day back to "day 1". The traders loot respawn will not happen until day 49
The same thing happens for vending machines and air drops as well. So if you were to play all the way until day 100 and the next air drop was scheduled for day 105. Set the day back to day 1 you will not get another air drop until day 105 and so on
3. It completely messes up the timer on plants/tree growth. Not sure if it's the exact same issue as what happens with the vendors but if you plant a seed and than move the days back, you'll be much better off smashing the plant to get the seed back and replanting it because it will either take forever to spawn or it will just glitch and never grow
Overall I can't think of a single benefit to changing the days backwards (note that in prior alphas the day was tied into which zombie types would attack, that's no longer relevent since that's now tied to game stage)
You can change the day length in the serverconfig xml
You'll need to reboot the server to take effect
