How do I label the storage boxes?

I have seen you can put symbols on them for food, medicine ammo etc. I can't seem to find it, am I stupid? I had to exit and allow cheats to spawn them in

You can 'paint' it on if you have brush/paint and have found the relevant magazine or as I do now, stick a 'notice board' (can't remember proper name soz) on the front and name it what you like.

Make wooden signs and place them either on or above the boxes

You can also paint them, the oiriginal box decals are one of the options

That was alpha 15

He's asking about alpha 16 where there is now just one generic plain "storage box", you need to paint the old labels on (or just use wooden signs which was also previously an option)

They aren't even called "crates" in the crafting menu anymore

I think the needing a book to unlock storage labels is useless. Like just let players label boxes.

You can build wooden signs and label them without any books

You only need the books if you want to paint them, quite frankly I end up using signs anyway because there's not enough labels to really customize much variety
