Only time I have land claim on SP is when I "thought" I was playing SP.

A game to which I ran for a good 35 days only to have some mysetrious person log into my SP game, hack his way immediately into my base and destroy everything I had.

You may want to check to make sure you're SP game is not actaullly set to MP because if it is, it's listed, and others can access it.

Free iron sounds good but I am sure that there is another use for it.

Yes the game IS SP single player.

if your on a16 its the only way to pick up your forge and workbenches. if you try to wrench them you get resources and it doesnt pick up the block when it breaks.

^^ this.

I also read that the land claim block must be placed BEFORE work stations in order to pick them up (and now you just hold R or something instead of wrenching). All those stations in POI's just become materials when wrenched now.

I haven't loaded to 16 yet, but based on the described above, could you place a land claim block next to a spawned work station to pick it up? Destroy the block after if you don't want to leave it there and then make a new one?

Used to move your stations, and also for electrical items, like generator, motions sensors, relays, traps etc...

Nope. I placed my lc block and wrenched my forge and workbench and just got parts and lost them. Also i built a base elsewhere and electricity works just fine without a lc block

You don`t wrench them with the land claim block down. You Press a key (Or hold and select icon). Not actually done it myself, but seen it working on a stream.

1. picking up workstations within its radius (new in a16)

2. picking up electrical equipment and turrets within its radius (new in a16)

3. prevents random zombie spawns in a radius around it (since at least a14)

The spawn protection is similar to how bedrolls prevent spawns, but the bedroll has been modified in a16. They both used to work bedrock to sky. In a16 the bedroll is now a bubble radius and no longer works bedrock to sky

The LCB continue to prevent spawns from bedrock to sky in their area of effect

Basically instead of being forced to use your bedroll at home to prevent spawns you use LCB to create non spawning areas at your base and you can still take the bedroll with you and create a bubble of a no-spawn area while you are out traveling

Not true

You can place work stations, then place a land claim and then pick up the work stations

Also: the wrench no longer has anything to do with picking up work stations. You simply hold E and select the hand symbol (the same way you would pick up a minibike frame after putting it down)
