Full Keyboard/Mouse support?
You say there is now full steam controller support, even though being able to use controller without setting your own keybinds is NOT full support, but when is 7DTD going to get full keyboard/mouse support?

I play alot of different games and like to use the same keybinds for all of them that I can. This game is the first game that does not allow the changing of some pretty crucial keybinds:

-So far I have never beena ble to change my mouse wheel keybind, as it just scrolls the menu up or down even while the keybind choice screen is open.

-Why are the f1 to f12 keys locked into rediculous functions? I use a gaming mouse and for every other game I own I bind them to f1-12. Why do I HAVE to have a button for fps toggle or debug mode? I have not once in my hundreds of hours pressed these keys intentionally. Even the console only has minor uses and that should be able to be rebound (like every other game except this one). Makes my gaming mouse unuseable for this game

-Why are my keybind choices not persistant? I will admit that there are other games that reset keybinds on large patches (Looking at you ARK!), but why can't you just not force reset them even if you have added more keybind options? It gets anoying to have to log in and change my keybinds all the time.

-Please allow the use of modifier keys. I don't see a single valid reason not to allow them.

The only thing I can see is laziness on The Fun Pimps' part. User settings and keybind options should be pretty high on the list of things to get perfect, since it affects every single aspect of the game that comes after. They are also such an easy thing to perfect compared to some of the insane bugs that are understandably hard to pinpoint.

P.S. What is up with the insane in game mouse sensitivity and the even more nuts interface sensitivity. I had to put both to 0.25 and 0.28 respectively to be able to play and it is still wierd.

I think I can sum up the answer you're looking for with one word - Alpha
Thats such a lame excuse considering this game will never release. This game has been "out" since 2013. This whole early access scam is just a way to hide behind not having to fix any bugs or actually complete a game. Keybinds would take a few days and could be patched in without any major updates required.

Then send your resume and go fix it? What are you waiting for?

Also - Alpha. Also - it's not gamebreaking. Also - it's get done, content first. Also... I like that word. A L S O... yes... allllllllll sooooooooooo

So may we ask your background experiance in game developement? How do you know it will never get released? Do you know the differance between FACT and OPINION?? How do you know how long developement on a game this size takes without any knowlage of how to make a game????

http://overmental.com/content/10-games-that-spent-the-longest-time-in-development-2-672

Oh look at this link and tell me again this game has been in development too long.

They just released an experimental A16 patch and the stable version is coming in 1-2 weeks. Yep, real scam there huh? Even on A15 it has more content than 99% of any other EA game out there and felt to me and many others like a full release game. Or let me guess, you want them to release the game then you have to pay for DLC instead of getting it for free by waiting???

Look at 99% of the veteran posters on these forums, you will find that all of them have 500 - 1K+ hours on this game alone. Most players don't even have that much playtime on AAA rated games. So please tell me how it's a scam???

So before you show your intellegance level by spouting pure opinion based BS, do a google search, learn a few facts, then make an appropriate post.

Here's some help in your search for knowlage about the game.

But I have no need since the last update, they fixed bindings!

@minotaur: That release cycle is all good and well but the early access model removes the requirement for a beta. Originally alpha was the design stage and beta was a release version for testing and bug fix, but early access is beta from minute 1, even if they call it an alpha.

And I personally don't see how they fixed keybindings in the latest update since there are still some that cannot be changecd such as the function keys and mousewheel (rendering my gaming mouse useless and the cause of my butthurtness).

Thanks for posting something that isn't some unintelligent fanboy garbage though :). Always makes me laugh when people say things like "you make a game then" (I have never produced a game so I must have 0 understanding of how it works), and "its early access" (4 years early access with some bugs that have been in the entire time and no release date in sight).

Jesus H. Christ. Since the dawn of time, Alpha= implement core features and mechanics. Beta= bug fixing and final optimizations. ♥♥♥♥ off.
If the whole early access thing never existed and they released A10 by itself, as a finished game I would've bought it along with a lot of other people and been much happier than I've been with MOST AAA titles. The fact that we've just got the latest build in A16 which is absolutely amazing just speaks to how stupid you must be to talk ♥♥♥♥ about the game.

The alpha/beta system stopped being relavent with the introduction of the early access model. It used to be you made the game (alpha stage) then when it was close to finished beta stage would be for testing bugs and server stress capabilities. The benefit of early access is that it allows smaller dev teams to start a project and make enough money to keep it alive. the downside is that if TFP decided tomoro to quit and remove 7dtd from steam theres nothing anyone can do about it and no way for you to continue playing the game that you paid for. Since the game has been openly stested since day 1 there is no need for a "beta" in the traditional sense since bug testing is already being done. Why have a bug testing stage within a bug testing stage?

Another great comment that provides 0 actual substance other than that you like the game. Great! I enjoy this game as well, as can be seen by my 600 hours played. Just because you like the game doesn't mean there are no faults in it. I feel like the menu and keybinds could easily be fully optomized and functional and be done with , instead of the way TFP jump from project to project leaving behind unfinished aspects of the game for long periods (wether because they get distracted or have no clear production plan implemented, who knows). As far as my game dev experience, it can be safe to assume that static functions like keybinds and menu interactions are much easier to create than new physics for zombie ragdolls and an electric wiring system.
I completely agree. I don't consider the game in it's current state to have "full" support for any input devices. But I suppose once they finish building the main aspects of the game, they will get around to doing all the grunt work. At least, I would hope so.

The reason the other (rude) commenters are saying "alpha", is because during the alpha stage of software development, you really don't always know what features are going to be in the game. So building things like keymapping, or doing all kinds of optimizations at this stage... it's just too early. Once the feature set is finished, then the game moves into the "beta" stage where the real polishing happens. That's when optimizations and all the quality-of-life additions are made.

I understand what you are saying, but "too early" seems a bit exaggerated after 4 years to me. I have played since the beginning and TFP have a bad habit of jumping from one half finished project to the next. I get that they are a small dev team, but at least have some sort of plan instead of the sometimes random ideas that seem to originate from half baked urinal gossip between the devs. Like the new electriccal stuff. Great! Now finish the electricity in its entirety and then when its at 100% you fix the bugs in it and now that part is finished. Don't introduce electricity full of bugs and then go on to work on something complex like adding functionality to different wall materials to muffle sound at verrying degrees (which would be amazing with dynamic positioning surround sound) as an example.
