Almost none of the falls should be far enough to break a leg, The only one that comes to mind is the one that drops you three stories- And that ones liable to just kill you out right. But yes, some of them do drop you into a pit of zombies- Kind of the point, since most of the floor traps in the game are made by bandits or survivors to protect their stuff.
Just, Overall, Be aware of your surroundings. Or pick up the skill that makes traps like that delay for as much as two seconds(Perception tree- Infiltrator) giving you plenty of time to hear that triggering sound and back away from the area again. Lots of solutions besides just punching the floor like a brute.
It's an intended mechanic.
The real killer is the big (3x3?) tile.
That has no noticeable pattern in its texture afaik and if you fall in to it, AUTO PANIC!

Most of the collapsing floor can be detected before you step on them and since you usually have a Ak47 on day 1, it's not a death sentence if you miss one of those traps. Still, I don't like the few floors that look completely unsuspicious but still collapse.
Oh, don't get me wrong, i love false floors! Died in them a couple of times before and got no one to blame but myself for it, but its fun as heck when you survive what happens after the fall.
What I hate are those landmines in the wasteland, because those things can end you instantly.
When these things usually get you, is when you aren't paying attention.
Just ask someone to make you a mod to disable the fake floor triggering, so you can keep on playing once again. I think that would be the best fit for your situation. You don't have to drop the game completely for that matter.
I only know one type of fake floor(9x9 piece) that this strategy won't work, but they are too rare. The only mega-kuk thing using 9x9 fake floor I know is this house that will send you 4 floors deep underground with a Z trap at the end(It has a giant hole in the kitchen wall).
9x9 trap pieces are easily distinguishable by a friggin giant cracking texture once you start hitting it.
Take the time to "think" your way through a POI instead of just expecting to "run and gun" your way through it. For example, the best tactical approach to looting most buildings is to clear from the bottom up, and loot from the top down. So start in the cellar, clear it (but don't loot it)—then move up to the next level. Rinse and repeat. Clear the entire building wearing your nerdy glasses to gain additional XP. Furthermore, if you fall through a trap floor you won't land in the middle of a horde and have no idea how to get out since all floors below you will have already been cleared.
Once you clear the top level, remove your nerdy glasses and replace them with lucky goggles—which increase your loot bonus. Now work your way back down to the lowest level while you loot.
This is it the most efficient way to a clear building, maximize your XP, and increase your loot bonus. Plus, Z's won't be sneaking up on you while you're looting—which will decrease or eliminate all the damage you take.
Another option is to make a lot of noise, wake all of the zombies up, and draw them outside for the fight where you have plenty of room to maneuver—and can't get trapped; although, some sleepers may still remain inside. So don't assume the building is empty when you go back in.
If you run out of room in your inventory, go outside and place two secure boxes roughly five blocks up on the side of an outside wall. These boxes will be used to empty your inventory so you can go back inside and finish looting so you don't have to go back to your base; moreover, do not place the boxes on the ground. They are high up on the wall to keep zombies from destroying them. One box is used for stackables, the other boxe is used for non-stackables to keep everything organized and make it easier for you to select which items you need most when returning to your base. These boxes can also be used when looting other nearby buildings.
Good luck!
