If you want a challange bump the difficulty to 4+
Hopefully this gets fixed as I said, I cant play it like this.
There are plenty of other challenges and toys added this patch to play with, even if the random wandering zombies are derpy. They were never particularly challenging anyway, so having them just ignore you doesn't feel like a loss, even if it's a bit weird. The addition of sleepers, vultures, wolves, feral and irradiated versions of every zombie, wandering hordes, more screamers, triggered traps, electricity, and more all more than make up for a few off feeling bits.
Unless I walk into their view, they will no longer detect me from smell or sound it seems, and NORMAL zombies will give up their chase/hunt of me after a matter of seconds, sometimes even from just stepping behind a corner quickly.
In previous versions the zombies would smell/spot u from way further away and give an epic chase according to the setting (mine is set to 60 sec zombie memory).
I assume they are aware of this bug, as they no doubt did some extensive testing in the months it took leading up to this.
As I stated previously I think I found them acknowledging it even in the patch notes, 'zombie smell not currently working'.... I hope they fix it soon as the immersion and challenge factor is what makes this game so damn good.
I have noticed their reach is incredibly increased since A15 when they finally do notice me. I've been hit by a zombie taking a swing at me from 15-20 feet away or even across the street.
I am just gonna stop playing til they fix it, the thrill is in the danger.
It is a slider now so you can set the max number of at a time. That would be 64 FYI.
