Error 740
I can't launch the game, can anyone help? I used to be able to but it won't launch anymore. I get an error pop-up that says Error 740 and something about killing the program if I press cancel or risking corrupt data or something if I click OK (can't remember exactly).
If I click cancel then nothing happens and the game doesn't launch. If I click OK then nothing happens except that trying to launch again says that it's running and my task manager says it is also yet it is not.
Any help would be appreciated, I love this game T^T
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that did nothing; same issue.

try right clicking on the game and run the 7dtd launcher ( show game launcher). For a test try running the game in 32 bit. button on the left side (run in 32 bit) and see if you still have the same problem

Reboot your pc, update drivers, verify game cache. If that doesn't work than we need your system specs.

I mean I have rebooted it a zillion times since this first started happening. I did update drivers. How do I verify a game cache?

That didn't do anything. It said it was all validated. I'm trying to switch back to 14.7 now because that one ran for me in the past.

i've seen this error before, think it means you need to run as admin, could be wrong on that tho, gl :)

14.7 didn't work and running as admin doesn't either

if it were me i would reinstall windows, assuming thats an option for you ?

holy crap I think it's working! I ran STEAM as admin. game is on 14.7 though but that's better than nothing!

you said run "it" as admin, meaning the game which I did which did NOT work. However running STEAM as an admin and then running the game from there did work. wink wink wink

I was able to get 15.1 to run now also, yay! thanks everyone

I do hope you deleted all your old files including the app roaming data before you started 15.1

I have no idea what that means.
I deleted data previously and so I had no games but I did have a character created which saved from 14.7 to 15.1
Is that bad..?
