CAN'T PLAY ALPHA 16.4!!

At the momment i have stopped playing 7DTD as i hate A17. I decided to roll back and play A16.4 as at least I can hhave some fun with that.. However every time i try to launchh A16.4 I get an error message. Unknown client and the game won't continue. Can anybody shed any light on thhis and maybe help. I've got nearly 3000 hours hours invested in this game and now I can't even play it. If you can help, thanks in advance :.)

I assume you're just using the Steam installer to revert back to A16, and it isn't working for you. Might want to consider using the Mod Launcher, since you can do a totally separate install of whatever version you want. And the game is vastly better with some of the overhaul mods out there.

Sure thing. No need to install any mods if you don't want to, just use it as a separate install (version) manager and play different versions whenever you feel like it. It works well from that perspective.

Since your Steam version isn't installed/working correctly, make sure when you pick a version to play in the Mod Launcher you tell it to do a fresh download from Steam (not a copy of the Steam version you already have).

Yeah, I just got hit wit the same thing!
I think the pimps are trying to stop people from "fixing" their games because their tired of people getting pissed about all their "work to make a better game" which flopped.
Since January, I've been running Valmod and I've got to say it's made the game SO much better.
I'll take a look at that launcher, because I don't wanna lose the last 300 hours of work in the new world I made recently.

TFP want to make modding easier, and they host detailed tutorials on how mod on their own official website. Also, btw, the game is an all time best seller, not a flop. :/

This might also be a screw up on Steam's part as this is now the 2nd of two threads that JUST sprang up in the past week or so. I doubt TFP did anything to block us out of 16.4 and -force- us to play 17.2

I don't think they were saying the game itself flopped. More like the massive changes made in A17 flopped with the existing player base.

I just recently discovered Mod Launcher, it's a great tool! And it keeps isolated versions of your game, so you can play different mods depending on your mood.

I highly recommend Darkness Falls if you decide to run on A17. It's probably the closest I've seen to the awesome 16.4 and Valmod combination that was our favorite prior to the big 17 update.

just launch the exe directly, which is what I have to do for a11..
not sure when this started, but yeah, definitely on steam.

Very cool, haven't played DF myself. Currently playing Ravenhearst+Sorcery and loving it. Zombies everywhere, gamestaged wandering hordes, expanded and more detailed crafting system, way more building options, etc etc.
