EAC ban for slow internet cannot play random gen online
I have very slow internet. I join a server but before it can download the map it (maybe 50% maybe 70%) it brings me to the main menu with no error. Now it says this when I try to join

Kicked by EAC: (ClientAuthenticationFailed) EAC Temporary Server Ban (expires in 14 minutes)

Try a other server

If its a private server try contacting the admins if possible it could be a whitelisting problem.

This game has always required a decent broadband connection. With a17 it's even more apparent because you're downloading the map data on your first connection, and that can be 1-2GB in size pretty easily.
If you limit your selection to Navezgane maps, you may find some success.

Sadly, it's something you're going to have to fix. Either get better internet, or stop playing online games.

I joined a random gen without EAC and it worked fine. I can play on Navezgane maps fine too. Are you sure it's downloading the full 1~2 gigs? It takes me 6 hours to download a gig and 8192x8912 was taking about 15~20 minutes to download. Maybe it isn't downloading the entire map. I wonder if it would be possible for a client to generate the world with the same seeds and then download the changes to the world.

Reguardless I must play either navezgane or EAC disabled servers which isn't much of an issue.

Seems like someone COULD provide a link to DL these "other" maps aside of Navezgane so we could DL the files without getting kicked by EAC for being "too slow", or maybe they could set up EAC to give us more time, or set up a way where when we have started a DL, it picks up where it left off when we got kicked before. I played on the very server I am now being banned from with the very same internet connection I currently have. What changed? A17, that's what.

"Get a better internet or stop playing online games." is an ignorant and lazy answer to a problem that could be solved in other ways. Don't get me wrong, I'm not necessarily calling that poster ignorant and lazy in the broad spectrum of things, but it's ignorant to assume that everyone can just go get the highest speed internet where they live. Example: I live in West Texas. You can't get Comcast or Xfinity here. It's something like Hughesnet, or nothing. Before A17, Hughesnet was more than sufficient. The problem is having to download the world while your client is actively trying to connect to that specific server. I say lazy answer, because that server got its world map files from somewhere. That's the place where we need to get our world files from. It's lazy because someone who could answer where to get those files, would rather say "Go get a faster internet" than to suggest where that file might be located. Maybe they don't know where to get it, but that file set exists somewhere besides just on that server, unless that server has a completely modified and built world map where nothing stock remains.

I had asked my friends to upload the map but they were not willing. Source engine (and hl1) is limited to 1mbyte/s. A workaround server owners use is to download the files through html. It might be that it downloads the html motd but instead of downloading a message it downloads required files at faster rates. Have you ever seen ads or html motd's in 7dtd? A workaround could possibly be made for slower internet like mine (70kbyte/s).

Our only option now is to ask a friend to upload the server's save file located on their pc.

Hi i can confirm that the eac has in my case about a 7 min timer so if you can dl that map with in that time ish (might be different for you) then you have no problems or less problems. eac should not kick people for having bad internet some times you get what you can get and it should not punish you for it

The devs have us in mind. They added 3 pregen maps so I am happily playing again. If need be I can ask server owners to upload the map data or temporarily disable EAC.

Same problem, i can't play in other server because "connection lost". I have a 100mb (93 download & 21 upload internet connection) and a big pc for gaming and 3 monitor. I Try to uninstall game, antivirus, firewall, steam but nothing.....it's impossible to play this game...

dude I have 0.6mb (0.6 download @ 0.6 upload internet connection). It takes me 4 hours to donwload 1 gigabyte

I get that error when trying to connect through the steam server browser or through a friend, however afterwards that server will show up in my history in the in-game server browser. Connecting to a server through the in-game browser is the only way I have ever been able to successfully connect to a server. Maybe this is your issue?

Had that issue with some players on my server, i fixed that way:

Server config:

<property name="ServerMaxWorldTransferSpeedKiBs" value="1024"/>
<!-- Maximum (!) speed in kiB/s the world is transferred at to a client on first connect if it does not have the world yet. Maximum is about 1300 kiB/s, even if you set a higher value. -->

i changed to 1024, i guess the actual upload speed is 512. So your actual speed if its over 1.3 doesnt really make any difference.

<property name="ServerDisabledNetworkProtocols" value=""/>
<!-- Networking protocols that should not be used. Separated by comma. Possible values: LiteNetLib, SteamNetworking. Dedicated servers should disable SteamNetworking if there is no NAT router in between your users and the server or when port-forwarding is set up correctly -->

removed the default value and set it to ""

if you can contact the admin of that server you can try to ask about how he did setup those settings.
(Quite sura what did the difference was the ServerDisabledNetworkProtocols value other than the Speed)

Interesting to see that there is a separate issue with high speed connections. Thanks for the useful information.

When I try to connect I get an EAC kick message not a connection lost message. In fact setting the max world transfer speed all the way down from 1024 to 80 would have no effect on me because my internet is that slow. It is nice to see that your issue can be resolved through a setting. Unfortunately my issue cannot be resolved completely assumably because of security issues, but because they added a few pregenerated maps I consider it resolved.

One method that is available, if the server admin would kindly disable EAC while you download the map, then they can reenable it after. It's a method I have used and it worked successfully. For me to connect and download the map for own server. Even though I have the map in my world folder anyway. Anyway, this method solves this issue.

It's difficult to convince an owner to temporarily disable EAC. Even after showing them this thread.
