Bear and Dog Horde
So I'm by myself making a farm plot for corn, when suddenly a pack of zombie bears and dogs spawn behind me giving me only 5 seconds to react warning cuz they howl and bark. Naturally I run for my life armed with only an smg and 60 rounds and make a dash to my nearby make shift wood fort with a 2nd floor. I managed to get to the fort and shut the door behind me, unfortuanately they all clip through the door and perma stun me to death before i can reach the ladder to the 2nd floor.

First of all give us a larger time gap to react. I need to hear the dogs howl and bark at least 15 seconds before attacking. They run way too fast also.
Next, how is this balanced? I cannot kill 3 zombie bears and 5 dogs on my own with all of them coming at me at the same time. It takes all my bullets just to kill one bear. The dogs are not that
bad, but the bears....Its very hard to out run them on foot in the middle of nowhere while farming. Like i said, very little warning.
3-5 second stuns each hit is OP, getting perma stunned, cannot move. Especially when they run faster than you also.
Whoever thought pack of bears and dogs spawning for random kill event is trolling.

Balanced? You're asking why an alpha game still under heavy development isn't balanced yet?

Give it time. It is what it is at this point. Several people keep a stack of spikes on their belts for just this very reason. Maybe some beer too as it prevents stuns for a few minutes when consumed.

The game been in early access and alpha for 7 years. Bout time they learn to balance game mechanics.

Basically this.

It's even an Alpha version of a feature inside of a game still in the Alpha development stage. Hell, even the wolves are still Alpha.

I fail to understand how people manage to purchase these games without reading the EA FAQ first. Steam literally shoves it in your face before you buy.

Maybe it's about time you learned something about development cycles. Many AAA games spent almost 10 years in development with teams 10 times larger that The Fun Pimps. You never were able to play while it was being developed though.

Reality man. Accept it, or don't play EA titles.

At least they barked before biting this time. Consider yourself lucky.

This is what I was trying to convey to that guy who was convinced he had "beaten the game" at gamestage 200, with his wooden bow. lol. XD

No kidding right, I had a pack come from nowhere and was hit by a bear and stuned before i heard anything, luckly i spec into armor and make the best armor i can or i would have been dead. And yes takes alot of ammo if you have crap quality weapons but have killed many bears with just a bow.

Difference is that AAA games, they don't slap an Early Access title onto it for 10 years and the game is actually higher quality due to being in development for 10 years. And of course triple AAA games require 10 years to develop. Because of the 100 hours+ story line, next generation graphics, hiring and recording professional voice acting, hiring orchestrals and symphonies for music, 20 hours+ cut scene CGI, debugging, testing.
Example, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, . <--- THIS REQUIRE 10 years+ of coding and development not a SANDBOX indie game.

Hell, Witcher 3 GAME OF THE YEAR took only 3 YEARS to make. And that game has good graphics, runs smooth, 120 hours+ story line quests, and have good game mechanics and balance. Its not even triple AAA, its by an indie Polish gaming company.

7 days left to die looks and feel the same since 2013. Dogs still spin in wierd circles and deer hops are eratic and un-natural looking. Dirt textures clip through floors and stretch.

This game been in developement for 7 years and is not high quality, AND still has the early access alpha tag that long regardless of the financial backing it has amassed. No excuse even if its indie. Something is clearly wrong here. How hard is it to figure out that spawning zombie bear and dog horde on a single player on day 30 is not balanced? It shouldn't take 7 years to figure that out. It is troll attempt to create artificial difficulty.

Not even close. In fact, I've seen many threads in here about people who quit (or claim to, anyway) because the game has changed too much. And they don't like the new skills or the new items or the new electric system or whatever.

The crazy contradictions among the people who ragequit are actually sort of funny. It's changed too much! I quit! It's not changing enough, I quit!. It's too hard. I Quit! It's too easy, i quit!.

It'll get there, man. A17 is around the corner. Relax and play a different game in the meantime. it was just one bear. You'll get it next time. :)

Doesn't being voxel based add to the difficulty in developement over many other AAA non-voxel games?

Yea, but explaining as much would just be a wasted effort. OP clearly believes he knows how to run a development studio and could have had this game out years ago.

We should all be applauding him and be thankful he's here to rescue us.

You could always try Flag & Cobblestone.
Especially by day 30.
Not judging, just advising.

Also, more info would be good like as to your game settings etc so that the community can provide any advice you may require.

'Cos your post isn't just a hate-post ...we can see you are asking for advice and will happily provide it if you can give more as to your settings.

Happy to help :praisesun:

Zombie dog/bear pack is just the game telling you its time to die. My usual first warning is the first stun. While a SMG is good, I actually perfer the sledgehammer for fighting the pack. Walk backward and swing for the fences, the dogs die fast. Usually if you survive the dogs the bears wander off and you can sneak them with a bow. Or not. I always try to move somewhere it will be easy to recover my corpse, because being ambushed by a pack is high risk.

Usually when I get ambushed by a pack its when I'm skinning meat. Hunting seems to draw them like nothing else.

1) Wait, you got a WHOLE five seconds warning??? That's rare.
2) Somebody with a tough name like "Vindicator" shouldn't be farming. Ever.

Seriously though, I've been saying this for a while, but apparently they're more interested in switching engines and adding vehicles that will only reduce overall game enjoyment than to fix obvious bugs like this. Dogs, wolves and bears should all have a more robust audio animation:
-At 100 blocks there should be some barking/growling
-At 50 blocks there should be louder howling
-At 25 blocks or less it should be loud, non-stop snarling.

This is the type of annoying little BS bug that they should have fixed before embarking on a gianormous update process. Add in bow malfunctions, no more scent/smell system, insta-spawning zombies after you clear a room, and a temperature system that has you getting dressed and stripping ever three minutes and you have to wonder if they actually care.

But yes. Sorry to hear about your death by silent bear. Hang in there.
