also I think it's 5 to make 1 seed, but yeah you keep reusing the same seed so it's self sustaining even when harvesting just 1
Well eggs aren't farming =P.
If we could have chicken coop they are. I don't see the point of having chickens that are so fast, they are not worth wasting ammo on. We really should be able to raise chickens and pigs. Just protect the area with turrets.
Basically it's an old problem that Minecraft used to have; And actually does still have in some ways- There is a set number of entities that can be spawned in at one time. Hostile, Passive, Doesn't matter- Strict limit. I think the limit is 80 for zombies without changing values in a dedicated server or xml.
Now, you can have like, 2-3 animals per slot due to their much simpler AI- But it still takes a slot in the entity handler.. One 'average' chick and pig farm later, and youve taken up 20+ slots in the handler- And these slots basically have to always be claimed and loaded, Or they would despawn; Or it would cause problems where you have entities loaded nearby as you're approaching the base.
So, Now any other entities that spawn are a bit dumber, And overall you'll see less of them. Depending on the requirements of animal raising, far more slots may be taken up by animals..
For you see, that was the problem Minecraft once had. Players would build chicken farms, sheep farms, pig farms, and cow farms- Dozens and dozens of each animal. This took up all of the entity spaces and basically stopped hostile monsters from spawning. They later rectified this by rewriting that part of the handler several times- First splitting passive and hostile mobs apart so each has it's own spawning limits; Raising the overall possible spawn limit; And lastly making it so only a certain number of animals can exist in a single block space, and some other things.
But 7DTD doesn't have the option of fixing the entity handler.. It's a Unity thing and out of their hands.
They want to do animal farming, but it's likely to be something like a chicken coop 'block' where you don't actually see the animals- Or maybe only one or two locked inside the structure, just for looks and sounds. Likewise with a potential pig farming block.
Anyway, that's my rough understanding of the situation as it stands.
Great googly moogly, necro thread O.O.
Quick! Double tap to the head!
But why do we need a double-tap if headshots kill? ;-)
