Personally, I use a bow or crossbow for relatively silent high damage shots for stealth bonus shots, but keep a pistol or SMG for those oh ♥♥♥♥ moments. However, a silenced 9mm pistol can do that job and I’ll back it up with something like the AK. I don’t mind carrying multiple guns that use different ammo types as I generally want to carry those ammo types if I find them while looting. So I’ll carry half a stack of 9mm for a pistol and one spare reload for the AK. Then toss a shotgun on my bar if I find one. Even if I’m not perked into the weapons, I still have every intent to use them. No real reason not to.
Point is, I usually keep a slower, single shot high-damage weapon for that sneak multiplier and a faster weapon useful for taking down a lot of enemies in rapid succession, or one that I can use to keep them stumbling around instead of attacking, and lastly a weapon that’s quiet. Sometimes that’s just two weapons with one or more fitting into two categories. Either way, I mod them according to what role I need them to fill.
