I want to start a discussion going for everyone who thinks alpha 17 killed the game. If you like alpha 17 this place isn't for you. I'm just hoping the devs see how the reviews for the game aren't 'very positive' anymore and last a saw they were 'mixed.' For my part I think the devs killed the game by taking away the creative aspect. I built a brothel just for the heck of it. Now it would take me half a day to build something pointless like that. I don't play games to go to work I play them to relax after a hard day.

Left 4 dead is about fighting zombies. Walking dead is for storyline. Resident evil is for jump scares. This zombie game was about building and exploring. If the building and exploring isn't worth it then how can it compete? It's trying to change what kind of game it is. Survival games are fun because you can eat 20 apples before a boss fight, you go a week without sleeping, and you can build a house out of three trees. With or without zombies its still a survival game. the enemies are just 3d models. Zombie or giant snake or robot overlord, none of those matter in a survival game. I play this for horde night and building a defensive position. Compare like to like. 7 days isn't supposed to compete with other zombie games it competes with other survival games. If it's not fun anymore then the playerbase will move on to Ark and Conan, not other zombie games.

The thing is, it's a survival game. Says so right at the beginning of the Steam tags. If you want to play a more creative / base building game.. good for you! The files are easily understandable and moddable. You can change things yourself, or wait for a mod to change it for you. That's the beauty of a sandbox, you can play however you want to if you're willing to put in the effort.

Alpha 16 is a pile of crap, A15 was at least kind of a game still.

Trying to look at the bigger picture. TFP are always backed up against a wall, when it comes to significant changes... They have their direction, and ideas... Some people like the changes, some people dont. People want certain things added. Some want those things removed. There are no real winners here. Players or developers. Trying to take a neutral stance here... Either accept the changes or revert back to A16.4. Its... fairly simple, and this post, is fairly pointless. Its been said, and by all means, you're entitled to an opinion.

You must like something about A17 else you'd be smart enough to have reverted already, hm?

Its still a survival game. You still need to hunt, or farm. To eat, so you dont die. And... it still maintains its tower defence elements. An unavoiable game timer before a pile of zeds find you to wreck your stuff. Is that... not survival enough for you? What else do you want... Mod it in perhaps? Make it your own?

They rebalanced and, will probably continue to rebalance some of the XP differences, for completing actions... They listened to the community and responded.

The game needed to be harder. Now it is. Re-Learn. Step up. Improvise, Adapt, Overcome.

The store page includes the line, "Tower Defense" When you enter the game they Call it a "Survival Horde Crafting Game"

Crafting and tower Defense are part of this game and how it is marketed. To be a proper Tower Defense game, you must build and repair said tower. Even if you take over a POI, you still need to craft building supplies to repair the now increased Zombie destruction. Or pick a new POI every 7 days.

On a Server with 20 to 30 regular players, thats alot of destroyed loot spawning POI's whiped out.

Its not Just a Zombie shooter.

I reverted back to 16.4. Only reason I had 17 was to take a look. When I saw that the crafting system is broken now I only kept it on because of servers.

The crafting was the fun part. To make the game harder just add more enemies. Then again whats the point of killing enemies if they no longer drop loot? One or two casino tokens would be enough especially since the early game you cant smelt your own steel axes and have to go to the trader.

Maybe the dev's should put up two types of servers... the A16 servers and the A17 servers and see which servers people use more and go forward from those choices. if A16 servers see more activity go forward from A16, if A17 see more then go forward from where they are. There are many aspects of A17 I wish I could have in A16 (more vehicles, modding guns and some others) but for the most part, I prefer A16 to A17. I liked the building of 7DTD more than the fighting. A17 is just a zombie FPS game now.

I like this change...I would rather loot 1 zed and get something good. than 100 and get absolute crap... AKA nothing. Its more efficient. The only gripe I have is I wish the despawn timer on the bags was infinite, or at least a day long.

Like u can kill 20 mother zombie and get 30+ rooten bread and maybe some edible food or kill 20 mother zombie and get a pistol with a couple of ammo to spare

With some changes Alpha would be a great version, it has interesting content: vehicles, POI's, weapons mods, etc.

But it's overshadowed by all the glaring mistakes, the most obvious ones are the damage against blocks, the I.A. focusing only in a few blocks and zeds digging to rock.

Revert all this crap and we could get a fantastic Alpha 17.

I liked drops back in A16 and earlier. The "crap" as some people say was really raw materials for crafting more useful stuff. Even a green sandwitch could be turned in to antibiotics which can save your hide from infection ultimately.

A17 kill the game because they remove FREEDOM, and force players to play in just one way.

I miss the different types of quality that affects damage for guns or speed for vehicles. getting better guns was a pleasure in the loot-section. how can i speed up any vehicle now? they are too slow imo. its all over with a17. why?!
