How to stay cool in the desert biome?

I'm trying different clothing and armor items to see what cools me best in the desert I'm currently stuck in. My character swelters throughout the day even if I'm indoors or in the shade.

Welllll, in 16.4 you wanted to get a skirt/the equivalent pants, a ballcap, and any other cooling clothes you could find, along with chugging tea every chance you got and avoiding anything that gave more than +1 degree unless it had REALLY good armor stats.

Just keep your eyes out for gear with good heat protection, I guess? The temperature system in 17 still needs work, at any rate.

Pretty hard to beat, yukka juice helps... But without armor mods or perk points I could not resist the heat with just clothes.

Yea.. decent clothings and a point or 2 in Well Insulated should cover most.
Make houses a priority untill you have at least 2 pieces, and craft a straw-hat and a poncho.
Drinks are good, but I personally find that skill-route to be inferior to simply straight up bypassing the heat-attacks by being Well Insulated
