The one major thing would be that the versions have to match. This is not likely to ever happen because of the extreme hardware limitations on the X-Box and PS4. Their CPU and RAM were out of date when they released. And with the exception of the Xb1-X, the haven't improved since. (And to be fair, all the XB1-X got was a little bit more RAM, and even that is slower than the original.)
As it sits, the upgrade to Unity 2017 they (Iron Galaxy) were working on for the console should allow the console to get some a16 updates. Not all, but most.
Possible, sure. Probable, no.
Hell even the next generation of consoles doesn't look like it's going to be much of an improvement in hardware since they are switching the focus to streaming the content, rather than hosting it locally. Which is fine for games that don't require a lot of CPU and RAM. Unfortunately, a fully destructible 3D Voxel world relies very heavily on CPU and RAM. Which is not something the console platforms have.
nice rez. Problem is the console versions, which TFP only just recenly reacquired the rights too, are still 4 Alphas -behind- the PC version. Even if it were just a "flip of the switch" , the software versions alone would be entirely incompatible.
