stupid dogs, i hate dogs, their stupid.
3rd day on new spawn, trying to build up the farm near diresville, was doing fine for awhile, needed food. killed two deer in a river and had to fight two wolves and a zombie to get to the carcass, was almost completely dead.

got the meat, and the fat, started towards home and got attacked by another dog, bleeding out, made it to my front porch and died.

respawn, run outside and grab my bag, as soon as i throw everything from the bag in my inventory im attacked by another dog and killed.

respawn again, find my bag, and the only thing in it now is some coffee beans.

lost four peices of meat, my compound bow, 7 torches, 6 eggs, and a 147 arrows..... :(

Dogs need some footfall sounds depending on the terrain theyre on, other than that they are perfect !!

Vultures are dogs 2.0 and also perfect !

Both of those creatures are supposed to instill doom and anxiety in players and hye both accomplish that perfectly !

Vultures are now my official nemesis's as they PISS me off but i love the feeling i get when ever i see them lol

Dogs in each early alpha have always been a issue. Here is a picture of what we dealt with in A12, day 6. Notice the dogs in the background as well - The dogs you see here are only half of what i could get in the screenshot. Once balancing is done, things will get easier.

I could do with less of them in the middle of nowhere early game. Multiple dog hordes on day 2 is not all that fun IMHO.

Vultures I find easy to combat, IF (and big IF so far in A17) I can hear them coming. Most of the time they are silent so they can catch you off guard a little too easy given that.

Oh i still hate dogs with a passion but i understand their purpose, absolute terror early-mid game.

Early game i do agree they always seem to be OP and way to many. But threres a few things i just gont get and just accept em as the game overall is brilliant :)

One not that OP. I killed 6 in the open, with 40 total stamina and a lvl 1 bow with stone arrows. I was not unscathed mind you, and so that second dog horde of 6 more was too much so soon after. And in a forest biome too, with little to no GS built up yet.

Hoping it's going to be like bears and scaled back a touch in this area, at least for the very start of the game anyways....

it just upset me that i lost all that food, food seems to be my weakness,t his is my third attempt at a start, the other two i made it almost two weeks living off of zombie meat and just letting myself die to go back to full .

in case you missed the memo on this little detail. Specific POI's have specific zombies that spawn in them. Dogs spawn on that farm. Always did too for as long as I can recall. So you may have a reoccurring issue holding up there when you leave the chunk and return back.

how far is a chunk in this game?

they werent their when i first showed up, they only started showing up when i went off to meat the trader and come back. he was on the edge of the next biome.

That sounds like you left the chunk and then came back again, triggering a respawn. Not even sure you have to go that far in A17 either. Could be a shorter distance than the chunk border too. Thing is even if you know the chunk size, you cannot tell where it starts and stops regardless.
