A17 best update ???
Why there are only people who played at 7 days to die for 10 hours maximum who say "alpha 17 best update ever" I think these people have never played a16.4 endgame to compare with a17.

A17 is better overall. Just remove the level gating of the forge and remove the death debuff

I've been playing since you had the little box on the screen that made zig zag lines when you made noise, or had meat in your backpack. The game has gotten better with every update. A17 is king right now. I don't agree with all of the mechanics, but I'm willing to adapt.

I guess its the other way around, they only played A16 so its too hard now compared with how easy A16 is... A15 was also pretty easy too

There was level gating in 16.4. Go loot some houses, and you can naturally progress to lvl 20 before you even NEED a forge.

I never really got to A16 endgame. But then, I haven't really played A15 that much either. A17 is an improvement over both of them, but has its flaws too. Problem is, I've played since way back at A5, and much preferred how the game played around A11-A12. They're adding good ideas, but the implementation of them is very poorly done all things considered. From books to perks, they gate stuff behind various walls to simulate progression. They really need to stop with this 'forced' progression and consider how to do things such that it comes more naturally as you play. Like, stop gating the forge so hard, just make it more difficult to get the most out of early on. Not that I see much issue, my stone axe of the same quality as an iron pick dealt literally the same damage to blocks. Can't see the purpose of needing rarer materials for repairing something that isn't even better *at all*. They're moving in the right direction, they just overdo it and have to come back to compensate. It'll get there though. Doubt I'll be able to enjoy full release without mods though.

If you drive a POS station wagon from 1970 and get into a 2018 top of the line 900 HP Corvette how long would it take you to notice the difference ?

I'd be like: "WTF am I gonna do with all these groceries? And whose idea was it to get a Chevy???"

I'm aware. I made it to level 30 so far. The only problem is the update they just pushed I now have trees going through my house I can't cut down. Problem something they changed in the wrold generator

Did you already update to B199? I think they said they fixed that, or they knew about it in the patch notes.

when i say to compare a16.4 endgame and a17 early game is to compare the strength of the zombies gamestage gathering etc.

in a16.4 day 240+ gamestage 900 zombies are powerful but they can barely destroy a reinforced concrete wall with spikes in front. (6000hp per block)

in a17 day 7 gamestage 25 the zombies are powerful they can destroy my base cobblestone level 2 (1500 hp per block) + cobblestone plates on top so they need to trough 3 lines of spikes + 3000hp walls and yes they destroyed 3 lines of spikes and my 3000hp walls in less than 2 minutes. ( no sense )

and i made my base with flagstone poles ( 1500 hp cobblestone poles) so i can shot them trough with arrow or sledghammer, but i can only kill a few zombie before they destroy my base entirely..

then when they got inside my base i tried to jump on the stairs but now in a17 you can not jump 2 times in a row before falling to 0 stamina..... I could not go upstair because no stamina and i died..

So yeah when you compare theses two situations it make no sense to me.

Stop comparing them. They are different alphas. A16 was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too easy.

Heh, this is a prime example of why my "base" is never where I fight the 7 day hordes. I just go to some Poi I know will handle it and build some crazy (yet cheap) thing that can outlast them then go about my business. Though its a feature I've gotten tired enough of that I basically remove the 7th day hordes entirely. I just don't care for that feature enough anymore.

I kind of wish they would go for more of a "14 days to die" approach instead, but I kind of suck at the game.
