Please bring back the "Gore Block"
I really loved the gore block that was created when a body decomposed enough.
I've heard it was removed due to memory problems, but if possible I would really appreciate it being brought back, a mountain of bodies does not look nearly as good as a mountain of flesh did.

Besides I used to create underground bases then kill zombies in piles so they would block themselves with their fallen ones.

And how sick wouldn't it be to have a base made out of gore, stairs, roof and everything. :steamhappy:

By the sounds of it, besides the issues goreblocks seemed to have with the hitbox and lagging, it sounds like a cool and realistic mechanic. Zombies won't just try to 4Head smash their way into your fortress whilst ontop of slippery (should be) spikes with no issue at all. Gore blocks sound like another proper threat to the players that keep whining that the game is too easy, what with their bedrock-deep holes in the ground to nestle in. Imagine being a coward and digging to bedrock only to find your entrance laced with gore blocks, and you had to dig and smash and chop through all of it to get to the surface for food and water. I think it would motivate players to make a proper defence, not a 2-3 high wall with spikes all around. I'm "newer" at the game in the sense where I have never seen these kinds of Gore blocks, but a World WarZ type zombie game sounds awesome to me.

Still sounds like a solid game mechanic to me, your post didn't change my mind.

Thinking about it another time. Ive been on the ramparts for no goreblocks. But the idea of having piles of corpses that creates new paths for the zombies is actually kool. But the current state of goreblocks still sux, and theyre annaoying tbh. But if they had a real purpose then they would have a place in the game..

imho

I really liked their original concept, and if they could just remove them as being a loot container and be just a normal block it shouldnt add too much lag.

The idea of them making a pile of corpses they can use to climb over walls etc. was a really great idea...and I still hold out hope they can figure out a solid way to implement them later, or perhaps someone will add it as a mod.

So far as the mess, just have them rot after a day so you wont have to bother cleaning them up...should work for their purpose and not be a burden on anyone.

Hoping it sees a comeback officially or unofficially.

i would support it if they were easily destructible by shooting them with guns and arrows. I wouldn't want the bodies to pile up past the vision ports of my half-underground bunkers. But if shooting them could clear the gore blocks easily then it would be better.

They have to serve a purpose other than being ugly mofos that creates lag and prevents all sorts of gamemechanics ranging from not being able to use certain explosive via selfdestruction of loot to simply being detrimental to some of the more action-oriented playstyles

I play 7D2D on a 7-year old gaming rig with a Radeon HD 6700 series card.

I've never seen an example of gore block lag. In fact, my horde base is designed to get as many gore blocks as possible to keep my addiction for bones satisfied. The loot they carry ain't bad either.

That touches another part of the game; why go loot/explore when all(most all) the loot you need comes walking in the door. With the right setup then all you need to do is wrench a car here and there, rest is trader-swaps.
Not sure this was intended as option

Loot is good?

I basically check them to level up scavenging, then I make sure my inventory is full spliting stuff around to harvest them with hunting knife to level up blade.

Their loot is trash, after horde night at day 49 one friend found one good item, I found 2 beers and 2 repair kits.

I get a box and a half of randoms, 1/3 being food n water/meds related, 1/3 being trash, but 1/3 being guns, gunparts, hazmat gear(money), treasuremaps, engines and what not. Ive done a cpl of comparisons, and i get better loot from a good hordenight than i do from 3 of the topfloors in say Higashi

Well Higashi is also terrible, most disappointing thing Ive done considering only the loot.

It was fun start it during the night with zombies running tho.

Im glad Gore Blocks are gone. They couldnt stack on eachother, so the body would fall and blow up and the loot from the zombie would just disappear. Having lots of goreblocks on the ground causes a lot of lag to servers as well on horde nights. Im glad theyre gone.

The gore blocks in the most recent build are different from what I think OP is talking about. For one or two builds, gore blocks formed a block similar to what you get when placing a sod block. When they formed, they could stack, in turn making a ramp of gore blocks that zombies could use to walk/crawl on. You could destroy the gore blocks pretty easy with a shotgun or pipe bomb. The current gore blocks desspawn after a time, but the older gore blocks stayed until you cleaned they up.
