i'm new to this game and i love it but where do i get forged iron

craft Forge or you can go to Trader on mountain to make a forged iron...they have forge there

Just keep in mind that the crafting stations at the traders are randomly spawned as broken so may not be useable, though if it is indeed broken it may still have some good loot inside.

You have to make forged iron, you cant get it anywhere. But you have to make a forge first. Look through inventory to see what you need to craft the forge first. A forge is useful for making many other things too.

Yes i suppose it could be i have played way over 400 hours and have yet to find forged iron in any container. Musnt be looking hard enough.. ;) Thank you though x

y, forged iron in container are VERY rare.

type "forge" in the crafting menu - and click on the forge to know what u wiil need to
craft a forge (leather: kill animals or destroy leather couches)
and u will need an anvil. u can craft that anvil in that forge (for higher crafting stuff - like
forged iron.)
u have to put the anvil in the higher right side - when u are in the forge menu (by clicking on
the forge).

only reliable source is crafting it, but looting broken workbenches, wrenching munitions boxes and those pole top things gives some forged iron, stiff tool crates occasionally and the mining hat zeds drop a bit from time to time.

oh and wrenching broken/working workstations gives it too.

Great sorce of iorn for your forge is using the wrench on cars, as a heads up.

Utility worker zombies (yellow hard hat) have dropped forged iron or even forged steel for me before. Very rare, though.

You can also buy it at a trading post albeit if the trader has any in stock, it's also a great way to increase your buying skill level(s) early on in the game, usually, a starting price is around 35 chips per bar, buying 2-3 bars at a clip will jump up your levels really fast. I chop up window blinds for the plastic pieces which go for 6 chips ea at the trading post as soon as I get enough to purchase 2-3 forged iron bars my level goes up by 2 from selling the plastic and buying the forged iron bars.

All this helps out alot when the forge option at the trading post is no good due to it being in a destroyed state, it's easier for me to buy 20 forged iron bars for that early pickaxe, fireaxe, or shovel I need to start increasing my mining tool skill level, especially, when I'm having a hard time trying to find all the ingredients needed to create a forge at the earliest moment possible, that first iron pick really helps you get out the starting gate, the sooner, the better.
