Constant wandering hordes...
My friends and i tried to play the game on warrior difficulty. We found a nice city. We try to build our base there but wandering hordes come like 7 times a day with huge numbers horde night zombie count set to 64. Anyhow there are so many hordes coming in huge numbers all the time. The game just becomes tedious to play we have to use most of the day kiting and killing zombies or avoiding them which takes forever. We got no torches, running forges or campfires in the area. Although we are bottered with this many enemies forcing us to move all the time. Doing anything is impossible. At night we got attacked by 2 wandering hordes. With like 15 zombies each. Almost killing us.

We have played on more difficult settings than this why does warrior difficulty have so many wandering hordes? I feel like it is more than insane but insane has every reason to storm zombies at you.

Any suggestions?

One of my friends hosted the game we were 3 players in total.

You can turn the difficulty down which makes it easier to kill the zombies.

You could mod down the number of zombies that spawn as well.

Some screamers, we experience a lot of them they started to spawn on day 2. Of course shooting them with a bow and arrow does not kill them even when crouched. Well with wandering hordes on top of these is probably the cause of all the hordes coming to us. But when its night no zombies screamers see us because we are inside.

I know, we have played on insane once to. We never experienced this many hordes spawning all the time.

How do i mod this?

If you launch your server through the game you should be able to change settings before launching. However if it's a dedicated server I don't have a clue.

If you're having screamer issues then just remove all torches, candles and dig a tunnel to rock bottom and have your forge & campfire down there. I had a screamer issue a few days back and for me it helped just by removing all my torches, sure it gets dark but just farm the construction worker zombies to get a mining helmet with flashlight.

To solve this issue is easy. Go cut down a ton of wood and mass produce Spikes. Lay out a layer or two around where you want to build, add a small wall meant to slow them down. Now 2 guys are in charge of security while one just builds. When the horde comes you take them out with anything you have.

Note if you are in a town or city you will have more zombie then if you go out in the country. This does make perfect sense give that zombie are dead people and without people you have no zombie.

This is a SURVIVAL game and if you want to play then you need to use strategy. You need to learn as you go and be organized. Working together is a must and if you can not do these things then you are in trouble.

When you get to that point throw a few blade traps in front of the spikes and watch the carnage. If you want to play on the harder difficulty then why complain when it is HARD. LMAO.

You should only see the wandering hordes twice a day, as far as I know. What's in them will change with gamestage, but I don't think anything increases the frequency.

This sounds more like you're getting screamers. If so, get rid of all torches, and minimize using forges and campfires until you can get defenses built up. Also, if the screamers don't see you, they don't call in the troops.

Oh it is really that easy?

Btw me and my friends have no forges or campfires yet. I think that the screamers spawn because of the difficulty.

Thanks for the tips.

I do know the basics but my friends should be reading this. We mostly stayed in one spot tapping it from recources. We made it to day 21 till we got tired on nomad difficulty. Having made a moat with scrap spikes. Experiencing around 3 hordes a day with 2 furnaces and a campfire. We thought that the slight increase in difficulty would not affect the screamers spawning on day 2. Ive got no problems with the difficulty but most of the time we club zombies since they love walking past our base. Or break down our pillars. Knocking our house down.

But please by all means dont go around and lmao like an a_hole. My friends and i are still quite new to this game.

My friend says he shall snipe em with his bow but they survive and scream he says. I was mostly gathering recources. Btw does player activity create heat which spawns in screamers? Since we have no forges or lights as of yet.
DominantEye Mar 29, 2018 @ 6:02pm
Yes, a number of things generate heat. Might be better to think of it as activity and not the temperature. Torches are really bad; use candles instead, or miner helmet is best. I haven't looked at the xmls, but I'm pretty sure mining and building also generate "heat".

On my SP games I usually don't get screamers for a few weeks, but I make a point to not be near my base much. I can see how three of you in the same area could really ramp it up, though.

Sniping screamers with the bow can be tricky, since you really need a head shot before they see you. I don't know if you can do it with stone arrows and the low quality bow. Use the best arrows you've got, and definitely crouch to get the damage boost.

Cities will have more zombies than open country, but it really doesn't matter for the wandering hordes. They spawn at some point, and head directly to where you were when they spawned. They don't home in on you like the 7 day hordes do. I usually get away from my base for most of the day and loot or gather elsewhere so they don't tear up the base. (I also build a separate 7 day horde fighting base a little bit away from my crafting base for the same reason.)

Good luck!

Thanks those are some quality tips man!

Have not played a mp game for many alphas now so not sure if this matters. Does the game check for wondering hordes based upon how many players are in the area? More players = more wondering hordes?
Are you play Nav map or random? Reason I ask is that in a Nav game, there are the rad zones that kill both players and animals quick. Dead animals that are allowed to decay create a lot of heat. I mean a lot, upwards of %50 of the way to bringing a screamer.
