If it's a corrupted game though it's bad and you may need to start from scratch. :-|
I don't mod and play the game toally vanilla so it isn't that. Also my base is not underground. I do have a mine under my house but I only go down there on BMs if I don't want the hassle.
I just remembered something that happened yesterday. I was clearing out an area at Departure and I guess a zed hit a car and it blew up. After that the zeds were all halfway under ground and when I walked through the area I went in the ground as well even though it didn't show a hole. Could that have glitched something? Nothing else strange comes to mind that could have caused an issue.
Thing is if you have a lot done in the game then that is I believe all loading into RAM. This is why games that allow player building seem to need more RAM than say Call of Duty or GTA.
Just something to consider I could be completely wrong.
If you want to test if screamers are still working, go away from your base, and light on some campfires (5 or 6 at the same time should trigger a screamer quite fast...)
Dont bother too much about a glitched zombie either
Zombies spawn, but also despawn, a lot
At worst, exit and reload
You should do it on a regular basis anyway, if only to clean the map and keep Ram usage under control
Good time to backup the save too...
