On my server they do respawn ... what's annoying because I build roads and if one of them is in my way it respawns always on the road.

probably modded then. In vanilla ( and most mods I know) they do not. Objects, once destroyed, are gone.

Sadly they do not but i really, really wish they did. I generally have the boulders cleared out pretty throughly within the area of my base. Would be nice if they could atleast respawn every 30 days. They are an invaluable source of material. I hate having to go all over the map in order to mine a specific ore.

This may not appeal to you but underground mining will give you all the ore you need. Each biome has a predominant ore found near bedrock, although you can still find all types of ore randomly. And Iron Ore is found in all biomes.

The predominant ore for each biome are as follows:

Pine Forest and Maple Forest Biomes - Lead
Plains and Burned Forest Biomes - Coal
Wasteland and Snow Biomes - Nitrate
Desert Biome - Shale

I suppose you are correct. By the time i have used up all my bolders i usually have enough material and are far enough into the game that mining and long distance travel to mine is a non issue but still just for the sake of convienence it would be nice to have some boulders come back from time to time. Gosh i love those things.

I know this is a zombie game, and the fact you can carry 6000 pieces of wood and stone isn't realistic, but having boulders repawning would kill what realism there is in the game.

same can be said for respawning loot. Would just be nice to have as a feature that can be toggled in the settings menu for people that would like it. I know in one of Joels videos from awhile ago he did mention the idea of respawning boulders.

They do not respawn (in vanilla) as they are not meant to be more than starter resources. By the time you lack those reso rocks, you should be well on your way to mining. That's where the larger amounts of ore needed are found. Early game though before you have much stamina and mining skill there a good way to get things going.

Really useful to know those biome materials. Knew about a couple of them, but lead was always a challenge for me to get outside of the boulders. Thanks!

You can also be killed by a big stone.
It happened to me in my beginners times (long ago) when I wanted to grab from my hiding place.

Only if they find another rock that they truly love and are given time to spend a night together with wine and soft music.
