I have to ask: Why would you play an older alpha?
Does it have lower system requirements? Was there a game mechanic that you liked about that version?
i bought the game short after they brought it on steam and alpha 8.8 reminds me at the first times i played this game.

But you can download it from MS, too.
Not sure if that works, but you might give it a try: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26999
Well, I wanna say this worked because it got past the normal issue, however it now crashes just before starting the world.
Edit: Retried a couple times and its working! tyty
The easiest way to be sure you get a clean install of whichever version you opt into would be to do a 'complete' uninstall--where you delete all the left behind folders. (You can set aside your ...7d2d\Saves and ...\Generated Worlds\ folders to keep a previous save.) Then you'd use a Registry Cleaner--I use free version of CCleaner for example--and clean the Windows Registry of all the 7d2d data. *Note: Be sure to do PC restart after cleaning the Registry. Now you should be good to go for downloading / installing an old version of 7d2d.
The other issue you had for 'vcredistributable' is just that you didn't have some older versions of MS visual C++ installed on your system already. Older games still need older versions. For this reason, it's recommended you just install all the versions so that any game / app that needs any version will just work right from the get go. Get a full installer for C++ here;
