Can I rollback a save file?
Howdy forum,
I was playing in single player with cheats on, was building underneath my base and that apparently caused a tower with ALL MY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SPARE GUNS AND AMMO to collapse, and I lost all of my spare weaponry. I could use cheats to get it all back, but I want the precise stuff that I had before. Is there a way to rollback the save file to a specific point before that tower collapsed? Any help would be appreciated.

If you backed your save up then yes. If you did not, then no.
I did not, unfortunately. For future reference, how would you do that?

Find the savegame files. I start the game and choose to open the start menu. There is an option to open savegames. I copy and paste them in another folder on my desktop. Most likely another way to do so, but I prefer doing it manually and choosing where it all goes :) Goodluck

Roar, do you have a file path for reference? I can't find any save files like what you describe.

1. If you're able to click play on steam, it should provide the open to just start the game or open the games launcher, click tools and opensavegame is there.

2. Failing that the file path for me is ( ThisPC > Local Disk(C:) > Users > (Name of comp/or whatever) > AppData >Roaming > 7daystodie > Saves > RandomGen

I hope that somewhat helps. (Couldn't figure out what it was called after Users because mine was just my name lol)

That's really, really strange. I can't find a file path even remotely resembling that. I do have in-game files under a different directory, but it still should be similar.
My in game files path like this: Local Disk(E:)>Steam>steamapps>common>7 Days to Die

That path is about as far as I can go. I don't see any AppData, Roaming, or Saves files. I see a folder called "Data" with some files in there, but no save files.

It seems like everyone's paths are different from mine regardless of reinstallation.

%appdata% is a hiden folder for Windows. run "%appdata% or write it to the address in Windows explorer.

Start explorer
in the address bar type the following without quotes: "%AppData%\7DaysToDie"
You should see you launcher settings files, and the saves folder.

Thanks to both of you wonderful human beings. Finally found it. I have no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clue why the Pimps decided to make it a HIDDEN folder in an entirely different directory. That is the most ass backwards piece of coding I have ever seen. I really hope someone brings that up with the Pimps because that is the most infuriating load of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I've ever seen.

Thanks again for ya'll's help.

But just to make sure, is there REALLY no other way to rewind the save? I'd really, really like to know before proceeding.

I use this method to store backups when the game goes wonky on me. I started doing this after my minibike disappeared. It's also handy to have save game backups for all the different mods used, as well as mod backups. I don't know of any other way to revert to another save than this. Good luck, survivor!

Save file is overwritten each time we exit the game, and there's only the one per game world ( unlike a game like say, Skyrim where you can save multiple times and multiple files ) So nope. Periodic backups are the only way.

Windows has a feature called File History. You can set that up to backup your profile data on a schedule and keep the backups for as long as you want provided you have the space available.

Okay if you really have to know, you're going to need to be Marty McFly and own a DeLorean for this method....
