Quicker Crafting and Misc Crafting
I am making this thread for the community to discuss the two skills/perks.

From my experience on the discussion pages, a noticed a few players haven't realised the benefits of misc crafting (quicker crafting is a little self-explanatory). I believe they are both quite cheap for the benefits they both provide (especially if you 5/5 for both of them)

So I'll put a list of just a FEW changes in crafting time for misc crafting (can be layered with quicker crafting to shorten the times again. Apologies if some are a few seconds off, some I had to work out myself as I didn't have a game that I didn't have misc or quicker crafting on)

(MC = Misc Crafting QC = Quicker Crafting)

Forge
- Iron bars = 1:00 minute -> 30seconds (MC) --> 15seconds (QC)

Camp Fire
- Meat Stew = 2:45 minutes -> 1:23 minutes (MC) --> around 41seconds (QC)

Cement Mixer
- One stack of concrete mix = 50:00 minutes -> 25:00 minutes (MC) --> 12:30minutes (QC)

These are just a couple of dramatic changes, everything in all of those stations are affected though with the exception of science related (fertillizer, antibiotics) then only QC will affect them and your science level. You don't have to do misc crafting first then quicker crafting like my layout shows.

I hope this has helped convince a few people to put points into both or even helped people discover the skill (lol). They have greatly improved crafting times especially in the process of building a horde base for me personally.

If anyone has any other skills/perks that may get dismissed or misunderstood or even another change that these perks have. Feel free to comment and help us out.

You're right, they're both great little skills in their own mind. :-]

Even if I consider myself kind of a "veteran" of 7DTD I often overlook those skills in favour of the juicyer once, but after reading this I'll go back and invest more into them in my current game.

On a side note there are a number of great guides on YouTube and I find this one on skills to be very useful and a nice Tricks & Tips starter for anyone:

I agree they are both great but there's almost no room for them though, My usual playthrough I typically get to lvl 100 then I get bored in my world to start a new one, by that time my bases are typically done that I won't need them anymore. Typical allocation for skills are weapon crafting, tool crafting, bad mechanic, sexual tyranosaurus, miner 69er, all 3 workstations and all electrical perks except ranged traps lvl 3.

I can see dropping bad mechanic and sexual tyranosaurus for them but it's gonna be painful not having them early game especially if you don't have a bike yet.

EDIT: Forgot to mention quality joe and secret stash, I can see getting them past lvl 100 but like I said by that time my bases are done and I won't need them anymore, I'd rather put them on combat skills by then.

Thank you for bringing these to attention. I had Misc. Crafting maxed out, but never actually paid attention to how much of a difference there was in crafting time: I dismissed this type of bonus, because all crafting is quite fast in the game anyway. The reason why I got Misc. crafting in the first place is because I mistakenly believed that it would stack with Armor Crafting, but in the end I at least got purple quality Plant Fiber clothes :)

I wasn't sure whether I would like to spend points on Misc. in the next playthrough, and with your post in mind I will likely do so.

I am glad that I brought them to your attention! :)

I agree that bad mechanic, Sexual T, Miner 69er, etc. are really important. I am unsure if I have just been lucky though playthroughs, however in all three worlds I currently have (days 133, day 63 and day 18).

On my day 18, I have one more level to go before maxing out miner 69er. I have one more to go before maxing sexual T (I don't though). And I have maxed out secret stash. I don't really go near quality joe because to go from 25, 50, 100 for the amount of points (52, especially when I just did a quick play through and found a purple half broken wrench in a house. Luck cannot be fixed with skills) is not worth it to me personally. Especially when I was able to purchase a blue wrench on day 11. I have also maxed misc crafting on it.

While it might seem like it doesn't fit, it sure does! It's very cheap and considering there is a bit of a leap in the game where you aren't using your points as much due to needing to get to level 60 for steel smithing and the chem station, that is the time to use misc crafting.

Misc Crafting is 7 points total to max out while quicker crafting is 20.

The points you lose for misc crafting is quickly replaced while using an augur or doing the easy quests (kill female zombies, kill nurses etc).

EDIT: I am also level 7 for both weapon/ tool smithing. Level 5 in science. You can still accomplish the combat skills you need. Misc crafting for me makes building horde bases a lot easier as I use a tonne of concrete mix and iron bars, so to cut the time from over an hour to 30 minutes or less is too good to pass up!

:)
