Nope they are already undead, so o2 is not required. They can't swim though. They just walk along the bottom.

Theyre still alive, not undead. But you're right about them just walking on the bottom and not dying.

So you don't need to worry abou them swimming after you, but that doesn't make building over water safe. They just walk along the bottom and beat up your buildings stilts until the thing collapses. I'm sure there are builds that work around this but likely only by exploiting. If you don't mind doing that though, Google it.

I guess you could upgade the stilts and put spikes around the bottom early on but at day 49 or so I wouldn't expect it to hold.

I have lured them into the deep & scavenged their Bone Sacks, seems like they drowned to me.

They absolutely do not drown for certain.

Dude, sometimes I swim early game at night to survive & they followed me out there. I swam above them until Dawn & watched them turn into a Bag of Bones, If it was too deep I would empty my Toolbelt so I would not lose anything when I scavenged the Bone Sack.
I like Bone Sack compared to Gore Block but I do this a lot early game if I have a big Water Generated Map.

they are under water as fast as on the ground. and running in the night. You are save as long the water is deep enough they can't reach you. Else you are dead because they are faster than you.

I can say for a fact the dont swim and that at minimum they have enough air to be able to walk underwater undetected and then stay there until they are and then another 2 minutes while I sniped them all from across the river. SO essentially, they cant drown, maybe they can if left long enough, but why would you waste your time watching that?

They did not drown, they do not drown, they cannot drown. It is impossible for them to drown.

They probably just slapped the :shit: out of one another while trying to occupy the same space directly underneath you and swinging for the fence, in a futile attempt to hit you while you exploit their (lack of) AI.

I don't know about that. I have watched them just die in water. I think it has to be upto at least a certain depth, but zombies will die in water with no help from other Z's or traps. Now this could be a bug so it's probably not something that should be relied on, but for now they will die if the water is deep enough.

I know about it. You don't as you said. They do not drown.

It's possible that they somehow glitched and got fall damage?

If you make a walkway with AI tricking pitfalls into a deep lake, would zombies fall fast enough (since they can't swim they don't hover into the water like players do), to die?

With proper construction you could build a base over water but you'd require something like chairs and minibike chassis to prevent the zombies from killing the supports.

Putting minibike chassis around a pillar that holds up your base might work actually, since they can't leap over it as it's 1.5 blocks high up.
