Shotgun turret ammo?

Which type of ammo goes in the shotgun turret? The shells or slugs?

I am one step away from making it, and don't want to stock up on the wrong ammo....

We have slugs in our front door turrets, and they worked fine for the blood moon last night.

Guns use the same ammo weather in a turret or not. Don't rightly know if you can put a sawed off in a turret, but perhaps that is why??

It's modded, either with actual mods or in the game files by the host. Slugs can't even be placed into the turret, locked or unlocked. I assume that's why the icon for the slots is of a shotgun shell and not a slug or both.

Only a long barrel can be used to craft a turret, so logically speaking yes, a turret should fire slugs. But they don't. Check in game now and you'll see that. I just did, that's why I'm posting.

No can do, at work right now. I have not mucked with turrets too much either so I was only speculating as to why it could be that way.

Good suggestion but they definitely don't use slugs. I expect the reason being if they did, they'd be able to shoot at a much longer range, similar to an auto turret, making them far superior. Suppose it's balance.

IMO the resource demand on slugs makes them a poor choice for auto turrets anyhow. Waste all those slugs on pleb zombies, and you won't have them for the big nasty's...

It was modded. It simply isn't possible to do that in vanilla. Ask t he devs themselves. I was wrong earlier btw, a turret is made with a short shotgun barrel, not long. The shorts can't even fire slugs on a regular shotgun.

Right and wrong xDD. Shotgun turrets cant fire slugs but they are crafted with the long barrel.
