That said, I play SP, and I've yet to run out of POI's to loot even on a 4k map. The closest I got was about 2/3's way through one, day 100+(x) somewhere, with a base fully upgraded to steel from top to bottom, and every piece of loot imaginable and massive stacks of it too.
In SP, you couldn't possibly exhaust a 4k map I reckon, let alone an 8k one.
That is what I'm finding as well with the Nitrogen 8k map I have just started to play.
I have not played a RWG map before, always Navezgane.
I have decided not to bother using a compo back for the prefab list, even tho it is wonderful to see the new buildings, some of the POI's are far too rich for me with what they contain and how I like to play the game.
This 8k map does seem huge, perhaps too big for a single player, well for me anyway.
Size wise how does a 4k map compare to the Nitrogen one.....?
Thanks, that is what I wanted to know.
Having played Navezgane only it is useful to know that it equates to about half way between a 4k and 8k map.
Perhaps a 8k map might be just right for me.
As you can't, as yet, define biome percentages with NitroGen I am testing out editing my own biomes.png file.
For singleplayer I would suggest something around 6k to 10k.
16k is really huge, and is really more an otpion for larger server communities (and good client machines).
In Nitrogen, the world has enough landscape obstacles (mountains, rivers, lakes) so that it takes a while to travel around. (not in a straight line). The world feels larger this way. Even exploring everything in a 4k map would take several days ingame.
Pumping up the city sizes, will also never leave you out of POIs to loot. (You can have 500 POIs in a megasized city)
