I'm notsure why repairing is still a thing if they make repair kits such a none issue. Baring the few times you might have to switch weapons, or open your inv up and repair in the middle of a fight, if ya forget to, I dont see the use of them anymore.
Repair kits only repair a certain amount of durability (and possibly less when the item material tier is higher?). That way you do not increase the need for them in the very early stages while adding a slightly more relevant ressource sink when your items get better.
I love that they fully repair items with one use. I also love that most items use them to repair.
Food takes some prep work, either thru looting, farm, or making the dukes to buy. Sure once you get a farm or are floating in dukes, food becomes a none issue. Before that tho, starting out, food can be scarce sometimes, or take actual seeking it out. There is a feeling of progression there.
From the start now, repair kits are a none issue. The way they used to be, there was a point they also became a none issue, but you had to work/prep to that point. So there was a feeling of progression.
BEfore it was not great, but now its a freak.
Better remove durability and repairkits alltogether now.
The key difference is that now they repair 100% while before they only did a certain amount. Maybe they could expand them to basic, normal, and advanced repair kits which repair 33%, 66%, or 100% item durability. Basic kits might be iron & tape, normal might be iron tape cloth oil, advanced steel tape leather and mechanical parts.
Just a thought. I'm actually happy with how they are now.
