Whats the point of surviving the 7th days?
Let me start off by saying im really liking this game so far....but when i die im simply respawned at my bedroll and all my equipment waits for me at my place of death....this didnt really bother me till the 7th day and the horde comes i feel it does not matter if i have a base or how many times i die cuz i just keep coming back anyway...so please people im looking for as many opinions as i can get...why should i try to survive why should i build a base ill need to defend and repair after why not just stand there let them kill me be resurrected and repeat till the danger passes...i kinda feel like this game should have perma death....but on that note it would be way to hard cuz i die alot lol...id like to hear how other are finding incentive to build and maintain a base and survive

This game HAS permadeath as an option before starting.
I try to survive because i feel like i loose if i die...especially if i play with said permadeath.

And...it's a SURVIVALgame..;)

It should be there in the options before starting a new game

Even if there isn't a permadeath option (I dont think there is either? Do you have a mod or something Olaf?) -- I feel like asking this question is like asking why you're playing the game in the first place. What's the point of playing? You could just toggle creative mode and have infinite materials. What's the point of dodging damage? You can just toggle debug mode and use god mode to instantly heal or be straight up immune to damage.

Yes, The option is there to just die, over and over, and over....But that's no longer playing the game. It's being a passive observer to intentional failure.

You play the survival game to survive; If you die, you have failed. It's also a bit of a sandbox, Do what you want to do - You dont need an official permadeath option, You just need the desire to do a permadeath playthrough -- And the discipline to actually go delete your save when you die and not just write the death off as unfair or something.

Basically..You get out what you put in. If you're putting in "Why bother", You get back "Why bother"

I'm not aware of a permadeath option. Closest you can get without forcing it yourself by starting over is by making you lose everything you have on your person at time of death. You can set that in advanced options changing drop on death from everything, to Delete All.

Ayup, no such thing (yet) as permadeath aka "dead is dead" aka "ironman" mode, unless you enforce it yourself and delete your save after death.

You can however, as Ming has noted, configure the game to delete your backpack on death, and that will be quite a motivation not to die that's for sure.

Sorry, was confusing this game with another😂
Must be because of working 14-18 hour days for two weeks at sea..

Would be cool to have in this game aswell..save gets autodeleted on death.

The 'delete all' option deletes it all. Backpack, Toolbar, and equipped armor i believe. Pretty huge loss. But then OP will argue 'well why not just unequip everything and -then- die repeatedly instead of playing the game?'

This is what i was afraid people would say lol....if this is the case i think the game should do something to reward us for surviving the 7th nights like the next morning you should get something cool you can only get by surviving the night without dying and if you do die you get nothing

Thanks Shurenai for the correction. :-)

There have been suggestions of adding a "boss type zombie" that would appear at the end of the BM horde, which would have a higher chance for dropping a high quality loot bag. It may yet be something that TFP takes up.

I see it like a tower defense... gather as much ressources (weapons/ammo) as you can, build your base with the strongest material and defenses you can, and see if you can survive the horde. The bloodmoon is the main point of the game, an incentive to build a fortified base and gather a lot of ressources in order to survive.
This is what makes the game spicy, because aside from that, well you still have the dungeons from quest, but it isn't as much as a challenge (you have control over it : you can flee away, create path, dodge areas...). The game would be rather dull without the bloodmoon : it's like your weekly challenge, a final boss (except it comes back every week, and stronger, so you have to be as prepared as you can evey time).

no actually i wont argue that but ok
Sorry if I seemed to be putting words in your mouth, I was basing it on what appears to be the premise of your post; That the horde night is easily circumventable by just dying again and again; There's nothing that prevents you from doing so; And no reward for not dying.

So, By that logic, Even if there is a punishment for death, like the loss of all held or equipped items, it's also easily circumventable by just unequipping everything first. It's not a permanent punishment in any way unless you die with your items on you at the time of death; There's nothing preventing you from just storing your items to die over and over, and no reward for not doing so.

So it very much follows the trend of thought that I see in the main post.

that sounds cool i like that....i get i can delete my save and all that and iv seen the options to delete all my stuff but i still feel there should be more incentive given to us by the game to do what the game is all about like basebuilding and whatnot isnt that what most games do?
