I try to survive because i feel like i loose if i die...especially if i play with said permadeath.
And...it's a SURVIVALgame..;)
Yes, The option is there to just die, over and over, and over....But that's no longer playing the game. It's being a passive observer to intentional failure.
You play the survival game to survive; If you die, you have failed. It's also a bit of a sandbox, Do what you want to do - You dont need an official permadeath option, You just need the desire to do a permadeath playthrough -- And the discipline to actually go delete your save when you die and not just write the death off as unfair or something.
Basically..You get out what you put in. If you're putting in "Why bother", You get back "Why bother"
You can however, as Ming has noted, configure the game to delete your backpack on death, and that will be quite a motivation not to die that's for sure.
Must be because of working 14-18 hour days for two weeks at sea..
Would be cool to have in this game aswell..save gets autodeleted on death.
Thanks Shurenai for the correction. :-)
There have been suggestions of adding a "boss type zombie" that would appear at the end of the BM horde, which would have a higher chance for dropping a high quality loot bag. It may yet be something that TFP takes up.
This is what makes the game spicy, because aside from that, well you still have the dungeons from quest, but it isn't as much as a challenge (you have control over it : you can flee away, create path, dodge areas...). The game would be rather dull without the bloodmoon : it's like your weekly challenge, a final boss (except it comes back every week, and stronger, so you have to be as prepared as you can evey time).
So, By that logic, Even if there is a punishment for death, like the loss of all held or equipped items, it's also easily circumventable by just unequipping everything first. It's not a permanent punishment in any way unless you die with your items on you at the time of death; There's nothing preventing you from just storing your items to die over and over, and no reward for not doing so.
So it very much follows the trend of thought that I see in the main post.
that sounds cool i like that....i get i can delete my save and all that and iv seen the options to delete all my stuff but i still feel there should be more incentive given to us by the game to do what the game is all about like basebuilding and whatnot isnt that what most games do?
no i was just wondering if i was missing something about the game that others would know i just got the game a week ago but i really like it and its got a ton more potential... i really hope the team behind it gives this game everything it needs to be great....with that said im glad i only paid 8 bucks :)
