Zombie footsteps/dragging feet sounds MUST BE ADDED!
I have major issues with these silent zombies that just walk up behind you and smack you out of nowhere without so much as a single noise. They don't have to be very loud all the time but there should be some kind of rustling or a moan or something every now and then.

Yep! That would be great and also add to the scare factor... >:-)

Agree. Footsteps NEED to be back. Better immersion. How often to play the sound is the question.

How about you only hear footsteps from 2-3 meters from you?

Who needs footsteps, these zombies are far from quiet; groans, moans should be more than noticeable, and don't forget trash piles still make a random noise when anything walks over them.

Zombies should have footsteps.
Footsteps will not save those with crap awareness.

Totally Agree! :)

The problem is a lot of zombies make no sounds at all until after they have hit you. There are way too many with no sound whatsoever.

Situational awareness (look around).
Problem solved.

On Steam someone mentioned (again) the problem with "ninja zombies"... so I was thinking: will you add something in A18 to have zombies make some noise? (e.g.: dragging feet sounds, moans, and so on...)

I think that would be great and also, in some way, add to the "scare factor".
Imagine being in a POI and hearing a dragging feet sound from upstairs...
Would also solve the ninja zombies problem everyone has been complaining about since A16.

Thanks

I'm not sure, but we've had both lots of annoying footsteps and none, I kind of prefer none. Its not ideal but it is the better solution until we get some sound dampening/occlusion.

Maybe a distance thing based on xyz axis. Hear 1 level above you, and maybe 20 meters around you. His complaint is too many footstep sounds. Narrow the distance, but allow the players to hear near ones approaching.

The problem is that there was no occlusion. Blocks didn't dampen noise. Hell, for a long time distance didn't either by much. Now it's limited by distance to an extent, but the ideal path would be to have the sound dampening/occlusion so that it's affected by placement of blocks, and the material they are made of.

This all requires more overhead of the engine, so will have to come after optimizations have been done.

Something to keep in mind too. This is all nearly virgin territory. No other game is attempting to do the kinds of things they are doing with 7 Days to die. The closest current equivalent is Empyrion, and they don't have a voxel landscape. Only the ships and buildings are voxels.

@Sylen Thunder: Just offering ideas. If I knew how to code it into the AI I would give it to them. :) Thats why they (The Fun Pimps) get paid the big bucks. ;)

Yeah, there's a lot of things we had that I miss and want back, and other things that I want, but we don't have yet. (I'm still not sure if the breadcrumb system actually made it in like they keep saying they want.)

I'm just trying to offer more clarification on the reasoning why we don't have some things yet. If I had more free time, I'd probably pick up Unity and start learning to code it myself.
